2000's romantic drama Dhadkan, featuring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Shilpa Shetty emerged to be a blockbuster and it has become a classic over the years. From character portrayal and plot to dialogues and music, moviegoers love every bit of it. Earlier reports were abuzz that the makers have plans for a sequel to the classic, but there were no updates regarding the same. However, now it seems that the makers have stepped up to make the sequel.

Recently, director Dharmesh Darshan shared major updates on his plans for the sequel.

During an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Dharmesh opened up about his plans and said that it may not be a sequel to his timeless 2000 flick.
Further, he added that it might be an absolute fresh take on modern cinema by a newly reinvented Dharmesh Sheela Darshan.

When he was asked about his plans to make a comeback to direction, Dharmesh said, "If cinema needs me, I will always be there, that too with age being still on my side and with my positivity.”

Powerful stars were angry with Dharmesh for not casting them in Dhadkan

Akshay, Suniel and Shilpa's stellar performance won the hearts of the moviegoers. Even other actors including Mahima Choudhary flawlessly portrayed their characters. However, powerful stars were angry at Dharmesh for not casting them in Dhadkan.

The veteran filmmaker revealed that after Raja Hindustani (1996), expectations from him were high. However, when he cast Akshay, Suniel and Shilpa in the lead, some powerful stars were not happy with him. Such a decision by the filmmaker didn't go down well with the big stars.

The director added that almost every big name in the industry was at his doorstep. But, despite intense pressure, he decided to cast Akshay, Suniel and Shilpa, as he believed in them.

"With all due respect, and I don’t want to come across as patronizing, but at that time it was very daring to cast them as lead actors because they were all going through a certain extreme low,” said Dharmesh.
