Istanbul hotel review help

I write an honest review based on my experience, but TripAdvisor won’t post it, it seems like the review doesn’t meet the guidelines. If I book a hotel with Expedia, but even Expedia can’t reach the hotel. Why TripAdvisor thinks somehow there is nothing wrong with the hotel? I post my review here and please give me some advices on how to write this review. Some hotels work out of their ways to help their guests, but some hotels are very difficult to deal with. I think everyone wants to make a informed choice

I booked Carina gold hotel in Istanbul for a week. In the morning when we were supposed to fly to Istanbul, my husband all over sudden got so ill. He vomited many times and couldn’t stand still. Around that time, we were already at the airport. BA had to pull off our luggage from the flight. Later, the doctor issued ‘not fit to fly’ note and requested my husband to isolate himself for 3 days. My husband was diagnosed with gastroenteritis which is an infectious disease. I contacted BA and the Carina gold hotel on the same day. BA didn’t give me any hard time and rescheduled our flights free of charge. I contacted the Carina gold hotel and explained my husband’s condition and specifically told the hotel front office manager that if my husband got on the flight, he could make other passengers sick. I asked the hotel manager if she could give us a year to reschedule and she refused. The hotel manager just kept telling me to speak to Expedia.

I contacted Expedia, Expedia agents agreed that under this circumstance, We should be able to get full refund or at least reschedule. Expedia agents contacted the hotel many times on our behalf, the hotel is being evasive and not responding to expedia's emails and phone calls. Expedia agents told me that they put "unreachable" in this hotel's file after numerous attempts to contact this hotel.

Hotels would have rules that will cover such situations. This is an emergecy situation due to sickness. İt is also true that expedia is the business you have to deal with because you booked with them. This is the clear disadvatage of booking through third party agents where both the agent and the hotel would throw the responsibility to each other. Check the expedias and hotels websites and try to see what category of booking you have made. There are usually some categories of booking at a heavy discount where no refunds are allowed. See if your booking belongs to this category.

What is more you should immediately email the medical records of your husband both to expedia and and the hotel. İn this instance, really, expedia is responsible to resolve this situation and they should get the vouchers for rescheduling your trip. They have the power over the hotel to do it and should assume the responsibility. They can not just tell you that the hotel is unreachable.

İf none of these parties resolve your problem, your only solution would be to sue expedia. Have your attorneys send them letters stating the facts. And see if you get some results.

Finally, you should book directly with the hotels in the future.

The TA review was not published, most likely because you have not stayed at this hotel and in your situation expedia is the company that is responsible to resolve this problem. You can write a review for expedia, however.
