Dear Joanne Thomas1,
Thanks for visiting Microsoft Community.
I understand that after you add images to Word, some of the images don't display properly the next time you open the document and you have tried a few things, but nothing works.
As I have limited information to provide you with accurate advice, I need to ask you some questions in order to solve your problem as soon as possible. On what operating system are you experiencing these problems? Is it Mac or Windows? Is your account a personal or business account? What is the deadline you are referring to?
There are various reasons for this situation and you can try the following methods to troubleshoot the problem. Since I don't know the version of your operating system, I'll give you the Windows method first.
Cancel the add-ons
Click the top left corner of the document File - Options - Add-ons - Manage the place to change to COM add-ons, and then select "Go to", uncheck all the add-ons, click OK, restart the document, look at the effect.
Delete word templates
Close all documents, press Windows + R, in the open Run box, type: %AppData%\Microsoft\Templates, press Enter.
Backup and delete the .dotm extension of the file, such as Normal.dotm, and then reopen the word document to see if the problem is solved.
