Adam Copeland Thinks 'Cope vs. MOX' Would Look Good On A Marquee

Adam Copeland casually throws out a dream match idea while discussing wrestling under his real name after 25 years as Edge in WWE.

Adam Copeland has been with AEW for almost a year. This is the first time he has been on any televised wrestling promotion for an extended length of time outside of his time as Edge in WWE.

While discussing the name change during a recent edition of Close Up w/ Renee Paquette on AEW's social media platforms, Copeland mentioned that he believes saying "The Rated R Superstar Adam Copeland" is quite the mouthful and he is trying to slowly but surely segue to being called "Cope."

This led to Copeland offhandedly throwing out the idea that a match between him and Jon Moxley would look good on a marquee.

"I'm trying to, little by little, segue it to 'Cope,'" he began. "Just Cope, you know? Because 'The Rated R Superstar Adam Copeland' is very wordy. I'm thinking, if I'm looking at a marquee, and I go 'Oh, Cope vs. MOX.'"

Adam Copeland has never faced Jon Moxley because, by the time Dean Ambrose and The Shield joined WWE, Edge had been retired for nearly two years. By the time Edge came back to WWE in the 2020 WWE Royal Rumble, Jon Moxley was well on his way to winning his first AEW World Title from Chris Jericho at AEW Revolution that same year.

Jon Moxley is the only member of The Shield that Copeland has not faced. Copeland had an extended feud with Seth Rollins in 2021 which culminated inside Hell in a Cell at WWE Crown Jewel. Copeland also faced Roman Reigns at WWE Money in the Bank 2021 and he was in a Triple Threat with Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) at WWE WrestleMania 37.

Currently, Copeland is the AEW TNT Champion and embroiled in a feud with Malakai Black, having recently challenged Black to a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match at AEW Double or Nothing 2024. MOX is the reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion and has never held the AEW TNT Title.
