Goodbye for now
In what has traditionally been a difficult fixture, Arsenal manage to come away with three points at Old Trafford.
With this result, they sit at the top of the table with 86 points and just a point clear of challengers Manchester City.
City do have a game in hand over their rivals, which will come into play as we head into the final matchday of the season next week.
United hold onto eighth spot but are in danger of being displaced by West Ham, who have a game in hand.
The world’s attention will now turn to Manchester City’s match with Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday as they pursue a fourth straight Premier League title.
We hope you enjoyed our coverage of today’s match, and until next time, this is Rohan Sharma signing off on behalf of Al Jazeera.

Wayne Rooney questions player commitment at United
“The way they are losing games, there are going to be questions [about ten Hag],” former Manchester United striker Rooney tells Sky Sports.
“If you’re a player and you see a manager questioning performances, then, as a player, I couldn’t let that ride.
“If they are [playing for the manager], they aren’t showing it very well. There are some very good players in that squad, and they are not performing.
“It’s easy for players to stay out [injured] at the moment. The players that are injured, it’s easy for them to sit out and wait for the FA Cup final and Euro 2024.”

‘For a United player, every game is a final’
United boss ten Hag provided his post-match views to Sky Sports: “On Monday, we definitely couldn’t face them [in relation to the Crystal Palace loss]. The defence was behind us [today].
“The attitude – it starts always with the right attitude. That is what you have to build during the week. You have to be spot-on. We were competitive today with one of the best teams in the league.
“It is about the execution. When you don’t have the right attitude and don’t press, when you don’t have the togetherness, then you make it very simple for your opponent.
“As a midfielder [Casemiro] playing that position who makes a small mistake, there are hard consequences.
“For a United player, every game is a final. You have to perform and win every game. You should realize this.
“If we have so many injuries, especially in key areas, and we don’t get what we deserve in defence, then this can happen. Most of the time, the team should fight for each other and have the right spirit.
“They [Arsenal] executed all they could and were competitive, and as you can see, you can get a result still.
“We have problems. The problems cost us the results [this season], but I don’t know where we should be once we have all the players on board.
“If we have all players on board, then we can have more consistency, especially in the back line. Last year, we had the most clean sheets in the Premier League”

‘You don’t have margin of error’
Arsenal manager Arteta gave his post-match views to Sky Sports: “We know the difficulty of it [winning a match at Old Trafford]. We started really well and got the goal, but the goal may have hurt us.
“We were not progressive with our play after and gave a lot of balls away. We defended so well. We didn’t concede much, and that is why we got the result.
“The attitude of the whole team, the discipline, a lot of good habits when it comes to defending – it was a collective win.
“We are really happy to win. We wanted to play better especially in the second half. The difficulty was high stakes.
“You don’t have margin of error. You play big teams who want to make it difficult for you.
“[It is the] last game now in front of our people. Our families will be there. Let’s live one of the most beautiful days we have ever lived together.
“We need that result in order to achieve it [Spurs beating City]. It is football, so there is always possibilities.”
Keep bringing the passion and energy, Gooners ✊

‘We had only one job today, and that was winning’
Trossard, who scored the winning goal, provided his thoughts to Sky Sports: “We had only one job today, and that was winning. It wasn’t the prettiest one, but we stuck to it in the end.
“We were looking for the second goal. If it didn’t come, it was going to be a tough second half, especially here with the atmosphere. This team can hurt you in different ways.
“It is only one objective [now], and that is to win the league. We have done our job today. Hopefully we have a great win next week. We can only hope [that City stumble].”

‘I am going to be the biggest fan of Tottenham ever’
Havertz, who set up the Trossard goal, shared his post-match thoughts with Sky Sports: “Yeah, very important [to get the three points]. I think to play here is always tough. I think we prepared for the game very well. We didn’t play our best game, but we needed those three points.
“It feels nice to go in every game and look to win. City are always keeping the pressure [on us]. It is so nice to be in that race. Every week you have to play at your best.
“Every time you win, it feels good. We have one more [match] next week, but we have the fans and club behind us, so hopefully it goes well.
“I looked to my right and saw him at the six-yard line [Casemiro] and called Ben [White]. He saw me straight away, and then it was a one-on-one situation. Then this guy scored [Trossard].
“I am going to be the biggest fan of Tottenham ever.”
14 – Only Cole Palmer (19) has more goal involvements in the Premier League in 2024 than Kai Havertz (14 – 8 goals, 6 assists). It’s the most Havertz has ever scored or assisted in a single calendar year in the competition (previously 13 in 2022). Fire. pic.twitter.com/tlO6A4xndf

Full-time: Manchester United 0-1 Arsenal
With rain and thunder lashing Old Trafford, Arsenal just barely survive to secure three precious points with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United.
It wasn’t the most convincing of displays, but three points are three points as far as Arteta and his men are concerned.
United failed to test Arsenal to any degree and will be pleased the scoreline wasn’t greater.
It is now on City to do the deed against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday to see if this title race will go right down to the wire.
