Daniil Medvedev achieved his 100th career Masters 1000 win after a triumphant debut against Jack Draper at the Rome Open. The Russian began the defense of his sole clay title with a hard-fought victory over Jack Draper, winning 7-5, 6-4. The champion of the 2023 Rome Open already has a record of 23-6 this season and became the 11th player to reach 100 victories in Masters 1000 tournaments.
The former world No. 1 has already etched his name in the history of Masters 1000 with six titles, all in different tournaments. Only eight players in history have won more titles than Medvedev's six in this type of tournament, in a list led by the Big-3. Medvedev has an overall record of 100-44, making him the 8th player with the best match record (69.4%).

Medvedev among the best in Masters 1000 tournaments

The Russian has had good performances in virtually all Masters 1000 tournaments. He currently holds 6 titles: Cincinnati Open, Shanghai Masteres, Paris-Masters, Canadian Open, Miami Open, and Rome Open. In addition, he was a runner-up in Indian Wells and a semifinalist in the Monte-Carlo Masters.
His worst tournament is the Madrid Open, where he has only reached the fourth round (in 2023 and 2024). Nonetheless, he has accumulated 100 victories in 144 matches, with notable achievements including 18 wins in Miami, 16 in Indian Wells, and 15 in Cincinnati.

Medvedev won his 6th Masters 1000 title one year ago at 2023 Rome Open, he defeated Holger Rune 7-5, 7-5.
At the Foro Italico, Medvedev is the second seed after Novak Djokovic, and the absences of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in the draw give him a good chance in defending his sole clay title so far. The Russian, who has 20 trophies in his career, has never successfully defended a title before.
In the third round, he will face the 20-year-old Hamad Medjedovic, who advanced through qualifying and surprised the 30th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets.
