Local track athletes compete in IESA state meet


Tri-Point’s Miguel Amador finished fifth in the eighth-grade boys’ 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:53.97 during the IESA Class 1A state meet on Friday and Saturday.

Amador finished sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.13.

In the eighth-grade boys’ 4×200 relay, Roberto Pozos, Rafael Campos, Bryce Rock and Miguel Amador finished fifth with a time of 1:47.3. Pozos, Campos, Rock and Amador finished seventh in the 4×400 relay with a time of 4:07.48.

Tri-Point’s Rafael Campos finished sixth in the eighth-grade boys’ long jump with a leap of 5.2 meters.

Grace Bohlmann of Buckley St. John’s finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.96 and fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.4 seconds. Bohlmann also finished 10th in the eighth-grade girls’ 100-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 13.95 seconds.

Brysen Butler of GCMS finished seventh in the seventh-grade girls’ 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:11.53 while Ian Rotramel finished 19th with a time of 5:21.25 during the IESA Class 2A state meet.

Tri-Point’s Khloe Dyrby finished sixth in the eighth-grade girls’ 800-meter run with a time of 2:32.09 and 11th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.25.

Tri-Point’s Roberto Pozos finished 14th in the eighth-grade boys’ shot put with a throw of 11.26 meters.

In the eighth-grade boys’ 100-meter dash preliminaries, GCMS’s Alan Matuszewski finished 13th with a time of 12.54 seconds.

Christian Brown of GCMS finished 16th in the eighth-grade boys’ shot put with a throw of 11.67 meters.

In the eighth-grade girls’ long jump, GCMS’s Makayla Evans finished 20th with a time of 4.02 meters. Evans also finished 20th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.73 seconds.

In the seventh-grade boys’ 4×100 relay, Bo Grider, Anden Coad, Miles Lindelof and Wesley Johnson finished 22nd with a time of 55.71 seconds.

As a team, the GCMS seventh-grade boys tied for 43rd with a score of two.

As a team, the Tri-Point eighth-grade boys tied for 11th with a score of 16.

The St. John’s eighth-grade girls finished 16th with a score of 12 while Tri-Point finished 38th with a score of three.
