Ah, love Tommy L!
He ended up being one of the most sane characters on the show.
I've seen some "hate" towards him here and I don't get it.
In the beginning, he was set up to be a bad guy who was part of the "hidebound monarchy" and against any type of innovation. I, too, was not a fan in the beginning.
But in Vergangenheit, Tommy's nuance was revealed and his earlier comments to David + his attitude toward monarchy innovation make a whole lot of sense. I became a fan.
"I will accept a lecture on love of country from many men, sir, but not from you."
Also, the scene where he tells Elizabeth the specifics of David's wartime correspondence with German officials. He speaks calmly, almost matter of fact, but his outrage and contempt shine through. Nicely done performance by the actor.
I love the way he delivered his lines. He always kept his composure and spoke so calmly.
Tommy. Brilliant role. Great actor !
After listening to Pip Torrens read the audiobook of Tommy’s WWII diaries, I want a biopic. There are some interesting depths to the guy that don’t come out in his fictionalized version (though the Crown seems to depict him accurately in broad strokes).
Seriously? I really want to listen to that....just for the voice alone....
What book is this?
