‘In a Violent Nature’ – New Trailer Brings Arthouse ‘Friday the 13th’ Vibes

While we continue waiting for the Friday the 13th franchise to get off its ass, at least we have fresh new original slashers – inspired by the 1980s classics – to keep us entertained.

Like Terrifier 2 before it, upcoming slasher movie In a Violent Nature is being released into theaters on May 31 in its UNRATED form, and the new official trailer has arrived.

The unique arthouse slasher movie frames the slayings from the killer’s perspective, and audiences have already been losing their minds at the gory kills during preview screenings.

IFC Films will release In a Violent Nature exclusively in theaters on May 31, 2024, and you can expect the film to make its at-home debut on streaming service Shudder soon.

Watch the new trailer below for a sneak peek…

In the film, “When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back – along with anyone in his way.”

Chris Nash wrote and directed In a Violent NatureRy Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan, Lea Rose Sebastianis, Sam Roulston, Alexander Oliver, and Lauren Taylor star in the slasher film.

In a Violent Nature is a tremendous new slasher. We’re thrilled for you to meet Johnny, whose reign of terror honors the iconic subgenre while taking audiences on a singular and brutal new journey within it,” said Samuel Zimmerman, Shudder’s vice president of programming. “Chris Nash’s bold perspective represents the best of Shudder, marrying the genre’s traditions with its exhilarating next steps.”

Meagan Navarro wrote in her Sundance review for Bloody Disgusting, “In a Violent Nature may offer slasher thrills and a delightfully gory rampage across the wilderness, but Nash’s approach captures the carnage through ambient realism. It results in a fascinating arthouse horror experiment that plays more like a minimalist slice-of-life feature with a grim twist.”

‘Bogieville’ – Bloody Exclusive Trailer Previews Southern Fried Vampire Movie

From Magnificent Films and Silent D Pictures, director Sean Cronin’s vampire movie Bogieville is headed to the Cannes market, and Bloody Disgusting has been exclusively provided with the bloody teaser trailer this afternoon. Sink your fangs into this first look trailer below.

Deadline first reported on Bogieville earlier this week, describing the upcoming film as a “southern fried vampire thriller.” And the vamps in this one look pretty gnarly, with their shark-like teeth reminding us a bit of the bloodsuckers in Radio Silence’s new movie Abigail.

In the film, “A young couple on the run come across the eponymous derelict American trailer park, where they soon learn that the residents are a pack of blood-thirsty vampires.”

Arifin Putra (The Raid 2) and Eloise Lovell Anderson (Villain) star alongside Cronin.

Henry P. Gravelle wrote the screenplay.
