Lima Memorial to use AI for lung cancer detection

LIMA — Lima Memorial Health System is partnering with health-technology company Eon to use artificial intelligence to review completed CT scans, X-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs and pathology reports for potential cancerous lung nodules.

Early detection improves survival rates, but lung cancer is often diagnosed when symptoms are present, and the cancer is advanced.

“Adding Eon’s AI abilities to our arsenal of advanced healthcare technologies is truly the next step in helping to save more lives,” Burlin Sherrick, executive director of ancillary services, said in a press release. “We are confident that this partnership will improve the early detection and effective management of lung cancer in our community.”
