Bonnie & Clyde The Musical UK & Ireland tour cancelled

Sad news has come in about the current UK and Ireland tour of West End show Bonnie & Clyde The Musical.

The producers have issued a statement cancelling the rest of the tour dates. The statement said:

“Bonnie & Clyde The Musical will conclude its UK & Ireland tour with immediate effect. The whatsonstage award winning musical for Best New Musical began its tour at Leicester Curve in February and has received a range of 5 stars reviews and standing ovations at venues across the country. Unfortunately, it has been concluded that due to disappointing ticket sales it is no longer financially viable to continue with the tour.  We would like to thank the extremely hard working and endlessly talented cast and company that have entertained thousands of audience members across the country with this production”.

Any existing ticket holders will be contacted by their point-of-purchase with further information.

The tour started at the Leicester Curve on 22 February 2024 and was due to play Southend-on-Sea Cliffs Pavilion this week, but performances have been cancelled.

Further dates were going to be Belfast Grand Opera House, Bradford Alhambra Theatre, Milton Keynes Theatre, Blackpool Winter Gardens, Edinburgh Festival Theatre, Cheltenham Everyman Theatre, Dublin Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Brighton Theatre Royal, Birmingham Hippodrome, Portsmouth King’s Theatre, High Wycombe Wycombe Swan, Newcastle Theatre Royal, Sheffield Lyceum Theatre, London Churchill Theatre Bromley and Northampton Royal and Derngate.

The cast of the tour included Catherine Tyldesley (Coronation Street, Strictly Come Dancing) as Blanche Barrow, sharing the role with Daisy Wood-Davis (Hollyoaks, Holby City) at certain venues; Alex James-Hatton (Heathers, Newsies) as Clyde Barrow to 27 July, then Nate Landskroner (Waitress, Heathers); Katie Tonkinson (Bat Out of Hell The Musical) as Bonnie Parker; Sam Ferriday (Heathers, The Cher Show, Jersey Boys) as Marvin “Buck” Barrow; Jaz Ellington (The Voice UK, Eurovision: You Decide) and AJ Lewis (Mandela, Mrs Doubtfire) as The Preacher at certain venues; Daniel Reid-Walters (Girl from the North Country, The Railway Children) as Ted Hinton; Nate Landskroner (Waitress, Heathers) as alternate Clyde Barrow for midweek matinee performances; and Lauren Jones (Bonnie & Clyde) alternating the role of Bonnie Parker on Saturday matinees.

Bonnie & Clyde is a thrilling story of love, adventure and crime that enjoyed a number of successful runs in in the West End. It has a book by Ivan Menchell, a Tony Award nominated score by Frank Wildhorn, lyrics by multi-award winner Don Black, and arrangements and orchestrations by John McDaniel.

Samuel Quested, a producer for Adama Entertainment working on Bonnie & Clyde, said in a statement on X:

Today was quite possibly one of hardest days in my career. To those that don’t know, we had to regrettably close our beautiful production of Bonnie & Clyde tour early. This was by no means an easy decision and it breaks my heart this had to happen. This show means so much to me. After working on the concert production and later full productions at the Arts and Garrick. This show has a special place in my heart. We were so fortunate to have such incredible companies over the different productions we produced. The touring company of Bonnie & Clyde were one of the most incredibly talented group of people I have ever had the pleasure in working with. Their hard work on and off the stage was like no other. They gave heart, passion and pure dedication at every performance. They delivered everything we could have ever of wished for in a company. I will be forever grateful to each and every one of them. I adore and love you all. Thanks to all the wonderful audiences and fans that supported the production over the years. Thanks to everyone who has messaged with support, it means a lot on days like today.

Other listed producers and investors on the show include Scott Prisand, Timothy Boynton and Alvin Providence; Wayne Glover and Junaid Ahmed, Charanjeet Singh and Saad Alam, Tilted, Ameena Hamid Productions, David Treatman Creative and Van Dean Productions; Andrew Paradis, Arbaz Saad and Aneeqa Waqar, Indie Theatricals, and Macnaughton Investments; Randi Zuckerberg, Felicia Newburn, David Lipowicz, Samuel Arce, Bob Leary, Araca Group, Jim Curtis, Stephenn Less and Fourth Wall Live.
