In Monongalia County, Kerns Fort will receive $15,000 for a new roof to prevent water intrusion, according to a press release from the PAWV. Kerns Fort is a settler’s cabin built in 1772 and located on private property in Morgantown, according to National Register of Historic Places documents. The man who built it, Michael Kerns, owned 600 acres in what is now Morgantown’s Fifth Ward area.

In Upshur County, the former United Brethren Church in Buckhannon’s Central Residential Historic District will receive $11,817 for window stabilization and repair, the release said. The Gothic Revival style building is to be adapted for “creative arts endeavors” according to the PAWV.
