While the country music world was preparing to cast their gaze upon the ACM Awards ceremony, Morgan Wallen surprised fans by sharing a new unreleased song snippet to TikTok.

The uptempo offering, entitled ‘Love Somebody’, continues in the genre-fusing vein of the Sneedville singer-songwriter's previous record, One Thing At A Time. With its driving, addictive beat and Morgan's serpentine, light-hearted hook, you can't help but feel ‘Love Somebody’ is tailor-made to become another viral smash.

Despite the sonic levity that pervades ‘Love Somebody’, lyrically, the song finds Morgan Wallen in his trademark heartbroken space, with the ‘Last Night’ hitmaker yearning to find “something stronger than the whiskey” - a lover who won't leave him in the dust.

Accompanied by a video of Morgan Wallen chilling with some friends on a river in Music City, the country megastar hinted at ‘Love Somebody’s seemingly imminent status as a summer jam, teasing, “I feel like this one’s gonna sound good on the boat”.

You can't help but feel the timing of this demo is somewhat pointed, given how Morgan Wallen shared the snippet to coincide with the 2024 ACM Awards - a ceremony during which, to many fans’ surprise, Morgan didn't receive a single accolade. Given the unrivalled success he's enjoyed over the past couple of years, the fact that he wasn't honoured with any awards will certainly be seen as a snub.

The pop-infused ambience of ‘Love Somebody’, coupled with other previously shared unreleased teasers such as ’Lies, Lies, Lies’, ‘I Guess’ and ‘Come Back As A Redneck’, suggests Morgan Wallen's hotly anticipated One Thing At A Time follow-up will see the record-breaking crooner experiment with an eclectic mix of textures.

While there's no release date for either ‘Love Somebody’ or the full-length project just yet, with Morgan having started the recording process for the album in March - and with the teasers continuing to flow - it seems his next record is on the horizon.
