Expected to launch by late 2025, the taxi service is an important addition to the urban transportation landscape of the UAE. With fares starting from AED 350 (RM 450) per person, the service is expected to boost tourism and become a popular choice for residents, to appreciate Dubai’s iconic skyline without getting stuck in heavy traffic.

Leading US aviation company Joby Aviation will operate air taxis, designed to maximise passenger safety and comfort. The taxis combine a helicopter’s vertical take-off and landing capabilities and an airplane’s comfortable flying experience. The aerial taxis will fly at an altitude ranging from 500 to 1000 metres, depending on the route. Taxis on longer routes will fly higher altitudes for optimal efficiency, while those on shorter routes will fly lower for enhanced safety. Additionally, innovative charging infrastructure allows for a full recharge within 10 minutes. Ground staff will efficiently connect taxis to charging points upon landing, minimising downtime.
Each air taxi, with in-built luggage compartments, can accommodate four passengers alongside a pilot. Highly skilled pilots will undergo rigorous training lasting 6 to 8 weeks to ensure a smooth and safe journey for all onboard. The air taxis can be booked by a dedicated mobile application developed by Joby Aviation, which can be seamlessly integrated with other ride-sharing and car-booking apps such as Uber.
