‘It Ends With Us’ Trailer: Blake Lively’s New Romantic Drama Arrives August 9

Can Lily choose between a past romance and a promising future? “It Ends With Us” sees the character starting over in Boston — even welcoming a new relationship. Lily’s life takes an unexpected turn with the appearance of her first love. The new film marks an important milestone for romance novelist Colleen Hoover. This is the first of Hoover’s books to have a cinematic adaptation.

Blake Lively portrays Lily Bloom as a woman coming to terms with trauma. The actress is no stranger to the romance genre — with popular projects like “Gossip Girl” and “The Age of Adaline” among her credits. Justin Baldoni co-stars alongside Blake, and the “It Ends With Us” cast also includes “1923” breakout actor Brandon Sklenar, Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, and Amy Morton.

“Lily resonated with an enormous amount of people, as the success of the book made clear,” Lively told People earlier this month about taking on the role. “Stepping into a character who’s had such a meaningful impact is an honor to take on.”

The film’s official synopsis:

IT ENDS WITH US, the first Colleen Hoover novel adapted for the big screen, tells the compelling story of Lily Bloom (Blake Lively), a woman who overcomes a traumatic childhood to embark on a new life in Boston and chase a lifelong dream of opening her own business. A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) sparks an intense connection, but as the two falls deeply in love, Lily begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her parent’s relationship. When Lily’s first love, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), suddenly reenters her life, her relationship with Ryle is upended, and Lily realizes she must learn to rely on her own strength to make an impossible choice for her future.”

Steve Sarowitz, Justin Baldoni, Andrew Calof, Andrea Ajemian, Colleen Hoover, and Blake Lively are executive producers on “It Ends With Us.” The film exclusively debuts in theaters on August 9. Watch the new trailer below, which features “My Tears Ricochet” by Lively’s pal, Taylor Swift.
