ALFRED, NY – Cameron Brought (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) of the Alfred University baseball team became the first player in program history to earn a spot on the All-Empire 8 Team, receiving Third Team recognition on Tuesday.
 
Brought, a first-year designated hitter, led the Saxons offense through their inaugural spring season. He ranked first on the team in multiple offensive statistics, including hits (28), doubles (9), total bases (37) and batting average (.283). Brought was additionally credited with a pair of stolen bases for Alfred University. Following a successful spring break trip in Florida, Brought was named as the Empire 8 Rookie of the Week.
 
"Cam is a model student-athlete," Head Coach Brian Kehew said. "He joined us as a first-year this spring as a dual-sport athlete. I was impressed immediately with his ability as a hitter and the way he carried himself as a professional. We are all incredibly proud of what he has accomplished and even more excited to see what the future holds."
 
Quinton Jordan (Olean, NY/Olean) was named as Alfred University's selection for Empire 8 Sportsman of the Year. The Empire 8 conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. Jordan has distinguished himself, consistently exhibiting the crucial traits as an outstanding sportsman.
