Carol Burnett and Abe Sylvia recently attended the Official Emmy For Your Consideration event for the show Palm Royale. They were at the Hollywood Athletic Club in Los Angeles, along with Kristen Wiig, Ricky Martin, Leslie Bibb, Bruce Dern, Laura Dern, Kaia Gerber, and Amber Chardae Robinson. People got the chance to chat with Burnett and Sylvia on the red carpet, and they spilled some tea about the season 1 finale.

Burnett thought the finale was amazing, especially the big twist. She even had a chat with Abe Sylvia, the show's writer, about it. There's a whole new mystery about Norma, Burnett's character. If there's a second season, Burnett will finally find out who Norma really is. How exciting is that? Now, here's something funny.
Even though Norma spends most of the series in bed recovering from a diabetic episode, Burnett didn't need much convincing to take on the role. She found it hilarious that she had to wake up at the crack of dawn, get all dolled up, put on a nightgown, and then go right back to bed. Talk about a dream job, right? She loved the challenge of portraying a character who couldn't talk and had to communicate through gibberish.
It was a lot of fun for her, and she enjoyed making people understand what Norma was trying to say. As for Sylvia, he talked about creating Norma's character from scratch since she wasn't even in the book that inspired the series. The twist in the finale was something they added to spice things up.
The book, "Mr. and Mrs. American Pie" by Juliet McDaniel, served as a great starting point, but they took some creative liberties to make the series even more captivating.
