Rinku Singh had smashed Yash Dayal for five sixes in an over in IPL last year.
Yash Dayal was the toast of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Dayal effectively defended 17 runs as CSK were aiming for a qualification target of 201 runs and kept CSK to 191 runs and gave RCB a win by 27 runs.
Notably, RCB have made a remarkable comeback this season, recording 6 consecutive wins after losing 7 of their opening 8 matches.
On Saturday, RCB scored 218 runs in 20 overs, but the critical statistic turned out to be 201, which was enough for CSK to qualify for the playoffs.
At one point, the yellow side appeared to be in trouble, having lost more than half of their team in the 15th over and needing more than 70 runs to qualify for the playoffs, but Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni went on the offensive against the RCB bowlers, bringing the game within reach with only 17 runs needed in the final over.
Dayal was hit for a monstrous six by MS Dhoni on the first ball, but he came back strongly to dismiss the veteran on the next ball and then gave away only one run in his last 4 deliveries leading RCB to a brilliant win and qualification in the playoffs.

When Dayal was hit for a six off the first ball by MS Dhoni, the bowler and several of the fans might have had a sense of déjà vu. Notably in the IPL 2023, Dayal was asked to defend 29 runs for Gujarat Titans against KKR, when Rinku Singh hammered him for five consecutive sixes to win the match.
This led to Dayal taking a break in mid-tournament and was then released by the GT franchise. He was then bought by RCB and has been in terrific form for the Faf du Plessis-led side.
After RCB defeated CSK, thanks to Yash Dayal’s brilliant over, Rinku Singh shared a photo of the RCB bowler and a special message as well.
Rinku wrote ‘God’s plans baby’, praisingYash Dayal for his brilliant tour around.
