Tuttosport: Three midfielders and three defenders at risk of leaving Milan this summer

AC Milan are heading into a very important summer and no player within the squad is absolutely certain of staying at the club for 2024-25, a report claims.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), a lot of the attention will be on the next head coach and the signings that arrive but there will be some interesting departures too and the main suspects are Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao.

The reason is simple: they are the ones who have the greatest number of suitors, on paper. The two French duo have contracts expiring in 2026 and are asking for an increase up to €8m net per season, which is even more than what Leao earns.

For Milan, they saw Leao’s renewal as an exception to their pre-established salary ceiling so that presents problems in the renewals of Theo and Maignan, with Bayern Munich pressing to sign both.

Looking at the defensive group, Fikayo Tomori is slightly more valuable than Pierre Kalulu and Malick Thiaw, but according to the paper at least one of the three could depart.

The same goes for the midfield with one or two of Ismael Bennacer, Yacine Adli and Tommaso Pobega at risk of being sold for the right offer. In short, there could be a fair bit of turnover.

  1. If someone offers big money for Tomori, he can go.
I would keep Thiaw and Kalulu, but play Kalulu as a RB.
    Keep Leao and extend Theo.
If Maignan doesn’t accept 5 mil, sell him. Asking for 8 mil is crazy.
From the midfielders, keep Adli and Pobega.
Bennacer can hit the road. Hopefully Saudi pays money for him. Kessie!, help Milan out.

    1. Benaccer is literally our best midfielder kiddo. Sell pobega who plays 8 games a year, and will actually fetch above 10mil from a serie a rival. Then sell Mike if he won’t accept 5 mil

  2. I don’t get why the management is already deciding on who to buy and who to sell if it still hasn’t figured out who our next coach will be. I mean doesn’t the coach have any say when it comes to transfers? How do they expect him to perform if he can’t even choose his squad?

    1. With all that news about Youssouf Fofana which was a Conte target when it was at Tottenham in 2022 and Emerson Royal which is a Tottenham player, I guess you guys can have the right guess

  3. Honestly sell Mike if needed he wasn’t a great help this season anyway but to sell leao or Theo would be a crime honestly

  4. Honestly I would have love for the management not sell any of this guys so the new coach can build upon the squad. Management should consider some factors and one is Pioli’s lack of experience at developing players or building a player and a typical example is CDK. Milan at the moment only need a good coach and a defensive midfielder and a striker

  5. Sell pobega and Mike if we have ti sell anyone. Maybe Tomori if it gets 50mil for us, even though I’d like to keep him. Pobega does next to nothing but fill an Italian spot that buongiorno could fill, and while I love Mike 8mil for an injury prone keeper is ridiculous. If bayern actually pay 6p+ mil for Mike we could easily afford a new gk and Buongiorno. Or ask for money plus Zirzkee, then we just need a new center mid Jessie replacement

  6. Tomori should be kept, Kalulu, Adli and Thiaw should all be on the market without pushing them out.
Bennacer as well but the offer should be substantial.
Pobega depends on if he is happy with being a pure reserve (homegrown)

  7. Selling Bennacer, our only brainiac in midfield while keeping bunch of runners and ball carriers with no vision or creativity.

Considering who’s running this club, I’m wouldn’t be shocked if it really happened.

    1. Your usual guff. We’ve scored 72 goals, second only to Inter. The cripple Bennacer only played 18 games, he wasn’t missed. It would be negligent of the owners not to take any reasonable offer for him.
