Michael Avery Obituary

Avery, Michael S.
3/22/1944 - 5/10/2024
Michael (Mike) S. Avery of Jackson, went to be with his Lord on Friday, May 10, 2024. He was born in Jackson to Carl and Harriett Avery 80 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly A. Avery, with 47 years marriage, son Paul Avery (Pam), daughters Anne Jafery, Deborah Avery (Rebecca), grandchildren Reza Jafery (Arianna), Isa Jafery, Travis Daniels (Jenny), Haley Chartrand (Jake), Derik Avery (Kara), Zoe Avery Sutter, Lauren Avery, great-grandchildren Natalie Daniels, James Avery, Cooper Chartrand, Ava Daniels, brothers Phillip Avery (Jacque), Charles Avery, sister Sandra Muckler (Stephen), several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carl Avery, Jr, Robert Avery, Donald Avery, sisters-in-law Sandra Avery, Claire Avery, Jean Avery, cousins Robert Avery, Keith Avery.
He graduated from Jackson High School and Spring Arbor University. He worked at Consumers Energy Company for 33 years. Mike had a great sense of humor with a quick wit. He had a good singing voice and delighted in sharing with any public audience (even to the embarrassment of his kids). He liked reading westerns and losing himself in sci-fi or action movies. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to Dubai, Wisconsin, Colorado and Arizona. And he loved eating donuts! He will be dearly missed by his family and friends including his cat Boo.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, MI. There will be visitation on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home and one-hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Roseland Memorial Gardens following the service.

Bev and extended Family,
Mike, and All of you, are in our prayers. Having had the good fortune of working with you and Mike and the other great people at Consumers was a wonderful experience for which Janet and I
are surely grateful.
Words come with difficulty at times like this, but we find comfort, as we trust you do as well, in the words of welcome from St Paul wherein he gave reason for believing that Mike was greeted with :
"Well done good and faithful servant; welcome to the home prepared for you from the beginning of time..."
God Bless and to be continued,

Dear Bev and family,
My dad, Bob Liechti, and Mike were friends and worked together at Consumers for many years. I remember the many times he´d come over and have coffee and donuts and chat and laugh! He did have a great sense of humor and quick wit! Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time, be at peace and rejoice that you will one day be reunited with him in heaven! Hugs to you, Sue (Liechti) Hardash

I will miss you Uncle Mike, you always had a good sense of humor. I'm glad my son Nick (Carl Jr.'s grandson) got to meet you when you came out to Massachusetts for my dad Carl. I still remember trips to Michigan with my parents, Carl and Claire, visiting you and all my uncles and family. Love, your nephew Mark

Sorry to see this. We´ve known Mike & Bev & family for many years. Going back to the days at Cascades Wesleyan, many fond memories. Yes, Mike will be missed, but he´s having the time of his life right now with Jesus!! That´s our promise from God´s Word. Until we meet!
