Nazi bill boards

It was very nice out today, so I went on a long drive out of Pittsburgh just to enjoy the weather.

I knew the country would have advertisements for religion and guns, but I saw not one but two different rotating bill boards. These boards literally had just a swastika on them, specifically the red nazi variant. They then swapped into an anti-lgbt ad, and finally an ad that says "kill all hamas."

They aren't even hiding their hate and nazi behavior. They are owning it. This was just going up 28, then taking the butler exit. It was on the highway, twice!

I would upload a picture, but I was driving, so i obviously wasn't able to snap one - but that honestly scares me more than a little.

Edit: No, there was no text on the billboard calling other people nazis. It was just a swastika.

When did Nazis become pro-Israel? I can’t keep my Nazis straight anymore.

If they believe in the rapture, one of the first signs would be a unified Jerusalem under Israeli control. This is because the Temple on the Mount has to be rebuilt in order for the antichrist to enter it and kickoff the biblical apocalypse. This is one of the primary reasons prominent evangelicals are so steadfastly pro Israel.

u/1moreanonaccount avatar

Bible prophecy by politicians always infuriates me

The rapture is a bunch of 1800s give my pastor money nonsense. Believing in it systemically undermines your belief in the infalliblity of God. By saying you are taking the believers to heaven, you are saying that Earth was not created good, because why would God take us from his good creation, especially for those who accepted Christ etc. Adam and Eve sinned and were cast out. Second off it really kinda refutes a good bit of relevlations, where basically heaven is a kind of galactic motel, fun to stay foe a while but not forever because God will be seated in New Jerusalem to wipe the tears of his faithful, and that the city of New Jerusalem will descend from the sky like a jewel etc...

I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong in their beliefs, just offering a counter to the post.

u/Purple_Balance6955 avatar

A lot of them just love Israel because they think that the Jews are still "God's chosen people." They genuinely think that the original covenant is still in effect and that Jews will go to heaven for following the Torah. Of course, there are so many different protestant group and groups within those groups that a blanket statement will almost never be completely accurate.

That is one major difference between Jews and Protestant religions- Jews still believe in the original covenant, Modern Christians believe Christ is the fulfillment of the old testament, and in him a new covenant between God and man etc. Based on how people act today, none of them are in place. Christians don't love each other like themselves, by in large severly hypocritical. I am speaking as a Methodist who attended an RP church school. We make ourselves out to be holier than thou, even to forsake our own humanity.

u/Purple_Balance6955 avatar

I grew up protestant (Anabaptist) and ended up walking away. I've been Orthodox (Christian, not Jewish) for about 2 years now and can happily say that the things that drove me away have not been present in my time as Orthodox. Of course, I was led to a very good parish. Small, but high quality and growing.

Actually before the creation of Israel. A lot of prominent anti-semites of the time loved the opportunity to both move Jewish populations out of their countries AND colonize land in the middle east.

It was a win-win for them.

u/wariorasok avatar

Stalin thought a jewish state in the middle east would help establish socialism in the middle east, instead the complete opposite happened

Shoulda'listened to Hegel

u/ertri avatar

I mean Israel started off pretty left wing. The hard right turn has been weird tho

u/just_an_ordinary_guy avatar

The current ruling party of Israel had a big hand in causing the assassination of a previous Israeli prime minister who was more peace oriented. I don't think he was left wing, but they were mad that he was even willing to sit down and talk to the PLO.

The "Jews will not replace us!" crowd happily supports Israel when they're killing Muslims. They are fueled solely by hate and rage. These are not intelligent people; they're feral animals being teed up like fighting dogs.

u/NovelAuntieGin avatar

They are the same people who think Trump is being unfairly prosecuted for purely political reasons and also believe that George Floyd died of an overdose. Reality doesn't matter to them.

They don't care about truth or facts, they just want to hear a story that sounds good to them. You can't make logical arguments to people who reject logic.

Always, actually. The following is a simplified version and is not exhaustive is:

The in the initial phases of the holocaust the goal was not to exterminate the jews, but to forcibly relocate them, usually to Poland and the USSR. The first death camps weren’t even made until 1941. It wasn’t until later in the war when the Nazis couldn’t push the Jews farther east that extermination became the goal.

The concept of a Jewish state has always been attractive to fascist, for the exact same reason that you’ll hear other racists yell “go back to where you came from!” at a black family from West Virginia. They want ethno-states. Always have, always will.

There was a time the nazis wanted to force relocate jews to magadascar which was french controlled at the time after the fall of France. But it was deemed a logistics nightmare and canceled. It was planned to be SS controlled island in a sort of police state. They figured there would be mass deaths if implemented. The war with the soviet union finally squashed the plan.

I would wager it’s not necessarily quite as ideologically based as it is “pwning the libs” - a lot of people on the right don’t really have an ethos so much as they just take the opposite position of those they perceive as their political opposites and a lot of them do it to an extreme.

This isn’t a generalization. Of course many of them really do believe in their bullshit.

Say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.

Zionism and anti-semitism has always had a strange alliance.

Zionism wants an ethnostate for jewish people.

Nazis wants somewhere far away to dump all the jewish people and they like the precedent of an ethnostate

u/Asphalt_Animist avatar

Zionism is based in the idea that Jews don't belong in other societies, levened with a healthy dose of anti-muslim sentiment.

Besides, Israel isn't actually particularly faithful. There's videos going around of IDF soldiers beating Orthodox Jews on the street because they don't support the genocide. As I understand it, the orthodox community tends not to, what with being more motivated by religion rather than political ideology.

u/wariorasok avatar

Yes. Far right nationalist military states are almost always fascist ones.

u/ahhhhhhhhyeah avatar

Calling a Jewish state anti-Muslim when there are more Muslims in Israel than Jews in europe is utterly insane. Israel is the only place in the middle east where Muslims have equal rights and guaranteed health care. Fyi the Arab/Muslim world ethically cleansed Jews from MENA in the past 80 or so years, and many of those displaced by it fled to Israel for refuge. Some were airlifted. There are over 50 Arab majority countries, Muslim majority countries, and some that are comprised of ethnoreligious Muslims—none of which are considered an ethnostate. That sounds more like anti-Jewish than anything.

u/zebrankyy avatar

"more Muslims in Israel than Jews in europe"

Yeah I'm gonna [citation needed] on that

u/ahhhhhhhhyeah avatar
Edited

Going by core Jewish population, the measure traditionally used to quantify Jewish demography:

Core Jewish population of Europe: 1,305,100

From wikipedia:

Muslims are the largest religious minority in Israel, accounting for 18.1% of the country's total population

Israel’s population is 9,294,403

18.1% of 9,294,403: 1,682,286

If you want to use other figures for Jewish population in Europe, the number is higher (all of that is in the first link), but as I mentioned, this is not historically how Jews have been quantified. It also isn’t in line with rabbinical judaism’s definition of a Jew. Personally, I would consider the second measure the most accurate (1.81m) but that is not universally nor typically accepted.

Yep, this right here. It is astounding how uneducated most people are about Israel and the Middle East. Particularly those who don’t recognize that Israel is the only place in the Middle East that basically any marginalized group can live peacefully and without the threat of actual death for: being a woman, being a member of the lgbtq community, speaking out against their own government, etc. etc. 2/3 of Israel is Arab, yet they are a bunch of white European colonizers. Make it make sense!!

u/ahhhhhhhhyeah avatar

Not even 1/3 of Jews are ashkenazi in Israel. Half of all Israelis are descended from middle eastern Jews who were ethnically cleansed from Arab lands.

u/concave77 avatar

Palestinians don't live under the threat of death from Israel? Tell that to the 35,000 dead ones.

Israel is a model for what white nationalists want in the US. A white-ruled ethnostate like Rhodesia or apartheid South Africa

What?

u/Ceramicrabbit avatar

Israel itself isn't an ethnostate or apartheid because there is a huge Arab population that gets full citizenship with the same rights as Jews.

Gaza and the West Bank are a different story but that's because they are different administrative regions.

They don’t have the same rights as Jews. The 2018 Nation State law makes that explicitly the case on the books.

u/ahhhhhhhhyeah avatar
Edited

That law has literally never been applied in court. Muslims and Arabs vote in elections and have been a part of coalitions. They get health care.

They want Jews to leave America for Israel; or because they hate Arabs and muslims more than they hate Jews. Evangelicals are similarly motivated except not by an explicit racial hierarchy but the belief that biblical Armageddon, the war at the end of time, is literally the Israelis Palestine conflict and so God wants us to back Israel in order to kick off the rapture

This was my thoughts exactly lol makes me question if OP is karma farming

u/rhb4n8 avatar

It's more pro genocide honestly

When they started killing muslims

u/TheZoloftMaster avatar

Nazis have always been pro-Israel, ironic as that is.

Neo Nazi’s like Isreal because it’s a model of an ethnic country, and it’s what they want for white people. They don’t like the people in it and want to be completely separated from them either threw death or strong boarders.

u/BenThePrick avatar

Nazis are in favor of ethnostates where the nation consists of a single type of people. They see Israel as an example of this, and therefore support it. They want the same thing for the United States, but they want it to be a White-Christian ethnostate.

I think there are many Christian’s that want a large war in Isreal/Palestine. For many and the faith, that is what brings about the rapture

u/Cobra_Arcade avatar

Probably about the same time college age progressives became anti-Semitic. It's been a wild bingo card this last year, everyone just brainwashed into following whatever radicalized mumbojumbo the TikTok algorithm is feeding them.

Ignorance used to just be annoying now it's much more dangerous. 😓

This guy is batshit insane, but to find a little humor in this, the one out on 422 (I think) has a random ad for an ice cream place mixed in

u/dxlsm avatar

And the occasional happy birthday or anniversary ad, sandwiched between the anti-LGBTQ+ messaging and the one of trump hugging an American flag or the “kill all hamas” one. I don’t know if I’d be super happy to have my photo in among any of those things, but apparently someone was.

u/mistermenstrual avatar

The one on 422 cracks me up, because for the anti-gay billboards he chose like...super hot dudes making out. Like actions speak louder than words, so of i ignore the slogan above I just see some sexy boys having a good time.

I had no idea at the time, but I met that guy years ago. It was only for a few minutes and politics never came up, but he seemed like a really sweet guy. Somebody’s grandpa.

Unfortunately, somebody’s grandpa who wastes his money on giant electronics.

I've said this here many times and it bears repeating. For years the FBI has labeled Pittsburgh as a hub for white supremacist activity. Brave men and women died fighting that tyranny. Sucks to have such traitorous cowards out and about flaunting the opposite.

And those people probably think they’re American patriots. Like hello, we fought against the Nazis, dumbasses.

u/sharpdullard69 avatar

We didn't hate the Nazi's as much as your history class would lead you to believe. The US had an appreciable percentage of pro-nazi populace. We just don't say that too loudly. These people have always been here. They are just feeling their oats with a sympathizer that will probably win the next election.

These morons are “patriots” in the same sense that “gentlemen’s clubs” are frequented by gentlemen.

u/Old_Lie6198 avatar

We didn't really though. We armed them, we funded them, our companies kept them afloat in the beginning,. We just came in and cleaned up at the end of the war. And brought all their scientists home safe to contribute to our sciences.

Kinda like today with all the terrorist organizations we fund, arm, train, then declare the enemy.

I just got to visit the White Cliffs of Dover and toured the secret military tunnels under the Dover Castle where Operation Dunkirk was planned. Not that most of these Nazi types would learn from anything except a heavy punch to the fucking face, but I wish I could drag some of these fuckers around Europe and show them firsthand what Nazis were about.

u/Munchkinasaurous avatar

The problem is, they know what they were about and they still want to emulate it. It's no secret what they're modeling themselves after.

They all think they'll be the boot right up until the minute they wonder what those treadmarks are doing on their necks...

Worthington? There’s one particular guy up there who owns the gas station in town, as well as those electronic billboards and the land they’re on. Private property and no actually illegal speech, so nobody can legally stop him. People have led shame campaigns, successfully made his gas station lose its franchise, and even vandalized his billboards a few times, but he just gets more and more determined to be a Nazi shithead. Out of spite, kinda like if the Evergreen Cafe guy was a Nazi.

The first one I saw was at a gas station, yeah. Huge Trump 2024 sign as well, lol.

It makes me feel better it's apparently just one asshole doing it, though.

He has multiple billboards along rt 422, it's absolutely insane the stuff he displays on there

u/JamesLLL avatar

Somewhat related, I was in Gettysburg last weekend and saw a PcowardT Front sign on a stoplight right on the edge of town/the battlefield. I pulled off to the side to knife it off and my friend who stayed in the car said there was a guy with a Trump bag eyeing me up from across the street, like he was defensive about the sign.

Funny how these things go together

Not really related, but the number of confederate flags around Gettysburg is mindblowing to me.

I’m not sure, I gleaned a lot of info from people mentioning it in google reviews, both in support of and against his signs lol.

You wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather so you chose to take a drive on 28?

To each their own I guess

I was going toward highland park bridge but decided to just keep going since I never went up 28 before, I live in the south hills.

I don't think I'll be going in that direction again haha

28 has been the butt end of jokes for decades as a road frequently under construction… other than that, it generally is a nice drive. Asshole from Worthington aside.

422 is the road to avoid. It has some scenic spots but I now refer to it as Trump Highway… and I live out in the sticks, so what I’m saying is that 422 is particularly bad even by my standards.

u/DefinitelyLevi avatar

I remember passing a Trump store alongside the road on 422 right after Biden won in 2020 and there was a huge 75% off sign lol
