East Ontario 11-year-old cyclist dead after fatal collision with school bus

The OPP is investigating after a fatal crash between a school bus and a bicycle killed an 11-year-old child yesterday afternoon.

The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says at around 3:30 p.m. officers responded to the collision on St. Joseph Street near Chene Street in Clarence-Rockland, Ont.

That’s located about 42 minutes northeast of the capital.

The cyclist, an 11-year-old child, was pronounced dead at the scene. The bus driver was uninjured.

The section of St Joseph Street near the crash was closed for approximately six hours but has since re-opened.

No charges have been laid yet.
