He was predeceased by : his parents, Walter Thomas Painter and Barbara Ann Ledford Painter. He is survived by : his sons, Stephen Painter, Jesse Painter (Stephanie) and Joshua Painter (Leslie); his grandchild Finley; and his sister Amy Benson (Gary).

Visitation was held on Monday, May 13th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Clyde's Chapel Baptist Church (16657 Buffalo Rd, Wendell, NC 27591). A celebration of life was held on Monday, May 13th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
