Division 3A

Bunclody AFC came out on top in the battle for the Division 3A title as they comprehensively beat fellow challengers New Ross Town 5-1 at Church Road on Sunday.

David Halpin converted a penalty to open the scoring for Bunclody on the half-hour mark, but the lead only lasted two minutes as Jack Walsh quickly equalised.

Steven Ryan hit a second-half hat-trick as the home side took control, while Patrick Somers also got his name on the scoresheet.

Bree United finished a point behind Bunclody in second place after fighting back to take a 4-3 win against Courtown Hibs at Macmine on Sunday.

Kevin Ring put the hosts ahead midway through the opening half, but Dylan O’Brien drew Hibs level before the break and they were 3-1 up by the 58th minute, thanks to goals from Patrick Carton and Leighton Fleming. Jack Kearney reduced the deficit in the 67th minute and, after Noel Roche equalised twelve minutes later, Dylan Dalton grabbed the winning goal.

Patrick Carton helped himself to a hat-trick for Courtown as they overcame Glynn Barntown 6-2 at Ounavarra Park on Thursday evening. Jude Stafford added a double, while Jakub Konkel also got on the scoresheet for the hosts. Seán Cooney and Tomme Smillie netted for the visitors.
