A place for parents (or anyone really) who are exposed to "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" and other little kid shows to post crazy theories, jokes and other amusing interpretive content. General reactions and commiserations to kid's being hooked on these nifty-galifty shows are also welcomed.
Am I crazy or are these songs incredibly similar?
We are Bluey fans in our house. I'm also a huge fan of the show Weeds. In one of the later seasons, a Regina Spektor song plays that to me, sounds like Keepy Uppy.
Please tell me if I'm onto something here or not.
Yeah, that sounds like the same melody.
Yessss thank you, this reply means a lot.
Regina Spektor is ghostwriting the music!
For real or are you joking?
No, all the hints are clearly there. Regina derives from the Latin for "queen", a clear reference to the "Queens" episode in which Chili is the queen. In that episode, Bluey and Bingo are butlers, which starts with the same two letters as "Bush", Joff Bush's last name! It gets deeper. "Spektor" not only sounds like "specter" in English, referencing the ghost basket that scares who? Chili, again!, but it derives from "szpektor" meaning "teacher's assistant." The only teacher in Bluey, Calipso, doesn't have an assistant, so the assistant must be someone else, someone hidden. In fact, that "assistant" therefore MUST be none other than Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Regina Spektor, who has been anonymously co-writing the Bluey score with Joff Bush this whole time.
Best way to see the similarity is to listen to the first 15 seconds of the Regina Spektor clip to hear when the horns come in. Then start the Keep Uppy clip.
VERY similar. Good find!
Yessss, the horns! I knew I heard the horns before.
I definitely hear it!!
yes
Oh gosh! I know this song, I've listened to it for years but never made this connection. That's cool!
Also I love this song. 😊
I looove that Regina Spektor song, have for ages
I mean theyre both using a brass section…and a melody that’s like not complete opposite but they’re not that similar
