Julian Lennon gave a shoutout to Bono of U2 for his involvement in his Through the Picture Window film.

He took to X to thank the U2 singer. Lennon quote posted a clip from Through the Picture Window that featured a confessional from Bono.

“Thank you, Bono,” the caption read with a praying hands emoji.

“A lot of rock n' roll people came from Art School,” Bono begins in the clip. “So, we shouldn't be surprised when musical people also pull out, ‘Here's my painting.' I think I might have done it myself.

“But with Julian, he actually really wasn't trying, it sort of found him, and very fine photographers would look over his shoulder and go, ‘How did you do that?' or ‘What's that? How did that happen?'” he continued.

Julian Lennon is the first son of the Beatles' John Lennon from his marriage to Cynthia Lennon. Julian himself has released seven studio albums to date, the most recent being Jude in 2022.

He has also produced several films and even appeared in Leaving Las Vegas. Through the Picture Window is a documentary about him. Ed Coleman directed the documentary. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith also appears in the documentary.

Who is Bono?

Bono is best known as the lead singer of U2. He has been in that position since the band's conception in 1976. His lyrics are known for their hard-hitting political themes. “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “Pride (In the Name of Love)” helped launch the band to new heights.

As a group, U2 has released 15 studio albums. Their most recent album, Songs of Surrender, was a retrospective work. It featured 40 songs from the band's back catalog that they re-recorded. Most songs featured new lyrics and arrangements that gave a whole new perspective to them.

Bono wrote his memoir, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story, and released it in 2022. He then embarked on his first solo tour, the “Stories of Surrender” tour, which concluded with a residency at the Beacon Theatre in New York City.

Outside of his U2 work, Bono has written the music for the Broadway show, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, with his bandmate The Edge. They also wrote the music for a stageplay adaptation of A Clockwork Orange and the theme song for the James Bond film GoldenEye.

Are U2 touring in 2024?

It appears U2 is bound to take a break after their 40-night residency in Las Vegas. The band opened the brand new Sphere venue by playing Achtung Baby in full.

Bram van den Berg joined Bono, The Edge, and Adam Clayton for the residency. Larry Mullen Jr., U2's drummer, sat out of the residency due to health issues.

On March 2, 2024, U2 played their fortieth and final show at the Sphere. Things have quieted down on the U2 front, but perhaps they are cooking up more music. They released a new song, “Atomic City,” before the Sphere residency. This was their first original song since “Your Song Saved My Life,” which was written for Sing 2.

The band has also been a touring machine over the past decade. They have embarked on three tours as a group in addition to the Sphere residency.
