Luis Manzano reveals the meaning behind his nickname 'Lucky'

Luis Manzano is known for his nickname "Lucky," but where did it actually come from?

During the first episode of Boy Abunda's Mother's Day special, "My Mother, My Story," on Sunday, the TV host and actor explained the meaning behind his nickname.

"One story kung bakit Lucky ang pangalan ko. My original name was supposed to be Nikolai. Nikolai dapat ang pangalan ko. Ang birth weight ko ay 7.7 so that's one. Lucky seven daw," Luis began.

He also shared that at the time his mom Vilma Santos got pregnant with him, her career flourished more, having received numerous awards left and right.

That was also the time where the Star of All Seasons signed a 15-movie deal between three agencies that helped her pay her P8 million debt in the bank.

"Noong dumating ako, noong nabuntis siya, that's when the movies started coming in. All the awards, nag-ga-grand slam siya sa mga pelikula. Iyon, that's why naging Lucky," the 43-year-old actor said.

After Vilma recovered from her debt, Luis shared that his mom became wiser when it comes to handling her finances.

Luis is Vilma's only son with ex-husband Edu Manzano. The former couple married in 1980 but separated two years later.

According to Santos, she was only 27 years old when she gave birth to Luis.

Luis married Jessy Mendiola in 2021. In February, the couple tied the knot for a second time at an intimate church wedding in Palawan.

They welcomed their daughter Rosie in January last year.

The TV host and actor together with his mother Vilma Santos and half brother Ryan Christian Recto were the first guests who appeared on Tito Boy's special series.
