PHOENIX — The winners of the Maricopa County Recorder's Officer "I Voted" sticker contest are here! Take a look at the stickers you can get this November.
The first ever youth and adult sticker contest took eight weeks, had dozens of entries and there were thousands of votes cast. Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer announced the winners in April.
"We received so many incredible submissions and much like our county's elections, the top contestants were neck-and-neck," Richer said in a news release. "That's why I've decided that we will use both the first and second-place designs for the two categories – giving us four new exciting stickers for our upcoming elections."
The youth contest was won by Jake Petrine, 17, a student at Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix. His design was titled "Vote in the Desert" and received more than 1,300 votes. The second-place design was made by Manuela Alvarez Sanchez, 14, a student in the Mesa Public School District. She received more than 1,200 votes for her design titled "I Voted."
Jake and Manuela will also receive a pizza party for the winning designs.
Lauren Kneuss, a Gilbert resident, won first prize in the adult contest with over 1,000 votes for her design titled "For a Brighter Tomorrow." Sarah Hurwitz, a resident of Phoenix, won second place for her design titled "GilaMonster Voter," which received nearly 700 votes.
"I look forward to honoring our winners and am grateful to all who participated in the process," Richer said.
The stickers will be handed out on July 30 primary and during the Nov. 5 general election. To snag a sticker, make sure you are ballot-ready be checking on your voter registration.
