Hades 2 has an encyclopedic number of resources, which was a bit of a surprise, especially for fans who played the first installment. It is rare for a roguelike game with immersive story-driven elements to implement RPG-style design in the form of crafting and resource-gathering.

However, the first Hades did that well, and now, they almost tripled the types of resources in Hades 2. Some resources are easy to acquire, while others take a long process. The Shadow resource is one of those that will take some time. Here's the best and easiest way to get Shadows in Hades 2.

Where To Get Shadows

Shadow Extraction recipe from the cauldron in Hades 2

The only way to get Shadow is by using the cauldron in the Crossroads camp and using the Shadow Extraction recipe.

If you don't have the recipe yet, you have to go through the story, and Headmistress Hecate will give you the recipe.

Since this is still early in the game, you should do several runs through Erebus and focus on getting all the resources you can get to jump-start your progression.

Once you have the Shadow Extraction recipe, you can concoct Shadows by using the following reagents:

  • 30x Ashes
  • 30x Psyche
  • 3x Fate Fabric

Ashes and Psyche are easy to find since you'll get them randomly through level rewards in Erebus.

However, Fate Fabric is a bit harder to find since you need to trade for it. At this point, you already have the Broker unlocked at the Crossroads, who will be the reagent trader.

The Broker will initially sell three items – Ashes, Psyche, and Fate Fabric. How convenient, right? To buy these items from the Broker, you'll need to get Bones, which is also farmed in Erebus through random-level rewards.

Whichever material you are missing for the recipe, you can just buy from the Broker if you have any surplus Bones in your inventory.

You will unlock more reagents or resources from the Broker. You should save some of your Bones so you can always have some emergency funds in case you are missing some materials sold by the Broker in the future.

Once you have all the materials, concoct the Shadow in the cauldron, and you'll have to wait some time before the concoction finishes.

You can go through a few more runs in Erebus and maybe try to progress through Oceanus at this point.
