Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Gets Ignored In Cannes Insta Post, Fans Point Out Racism Against Indians

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan dazzled on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday. However, a post from the event’s official Instagram page upset her fans. The 77th edition of the film festival has started with much excitement. On Thursday, Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walked the red carpet at the screening of Francis Ford Coppola's "Megalopolis." Despite having an injury on her hand, she looked stunning in a gown by Falguni Shane Peacock.

Fans noticed something was missing from a post on the official Cannes Instagram page. It featured a photo of Aishwarya along with other celebrities like Omar Sy, Greta Gerwig, Nadine Labaki, Anna Mouglalis, and Irene Jacob, but her name wasn’t mentioned. This upset many of her fans, who quickly expressed their disappointment in the comments.

Another user wrote: "You couldn’t mention Aishwarya Rai in your caption who’s been attending Cannes since before Greta Gerwig? The racism that the west holds for Indians will never fail to amaze me."

One person said, "Aishwarya Rai had to be mentioned too."

After receiving backlash, the post was edited to include Aishwarya Rai’s name.

Users who loved Aishwarya's look from Cannes wrote comments like, "The mesmerising and mysterious beauty Queen of Cannes and Queen of hearts,"  "Aishwarya slays like a queen as usual," and "The most waiting for ... Aishwarya Rai ... It's not soo wow but better than last year at least."

Aishwarya Rai is a regular at the Cannes Film Festival, and this year was no different. She attended with her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan. Many photos and videos of them have been circulating online.

Besides Aishwarya, other Indian celebrities, like Aditi Rao Hydari from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s "Heeramandi" and Sobhita Dhulipala from "The Family Man," are also set to attend the prestigious festival. The event started earlier this week and will continue until May 25.
