While Bollywood has managed to pick itself up after two years of slump due to the pandemic, our attitudes towards watching films have completely changed. Earlier, films of different genres managed to get hordes of people to theatres. However, that’s not the case now.

Only mass action flicks like Jawan, Pathaan or Animal promise bumper box office openings. Meaningful films like Sam Bahadur or the recently released Srikanth don’t drive audiences to theatres the way they used to before. This is primarily due to the rise of OTT platforms where most films start streaming within a few months of their release.

Hence, for an actor like Sidharth Malhotra who would get great viewership through heartwarming romantic films like Hasee Toh Phasee, this change in film-watching attitudes meant he had to move to action films like Yodha.

However, it seems that the actor might be looking to get back to his romantic boy era.

Sidharth Malhotra and Kriti Sanon were snapped outside the Maddock Films office, leading fans to think that they might be seen in a romantic comedy soon since the production house is known for making films in that genre. Owned by Dinesh Vijan, some of the most popular films by Maddock include Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (2023), Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) and Love Aaj Kal (2009).

Sidharth Malhotra was last seen in Yodha which tanked at the box office. Kriti Sanon’s last two releases — Crew and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, another Maddock Film production, did well at the box office.

Kriti will next be seen in Do Patti opposite Kajol. She is also reported to return to the Housefull franchise in its fifth instalment.
