Watch a recording of the March 2024 LCC Student Town Hall
In March LCC hosted the LCC Student Town Hall, which gave students the opportunity to talk with LCC's Head of College Kene Igweonu and Arts SU Sophia Nasif.
We are pleased to let students and staff know that works to install a new lift in the Workshop Block at LCC have now completed. The new Workshop Block lift at LCC is now open for use.
The new lift is for both passengers and equipment loads, with a maximum combined load of 1,000kg.
If transporting large loads, students and staff are encouraged to break loads down into smaller batches to make them more manageable and to reduce the risk of overloading the lift. If in any doubt, please consult the Facilities Managers or Technical Resources Managers.
From the entrance of LCC, the new lift can be accessed either on the ground floor of the Workshop Block, near to the Delivery Yard door; or from the first floor of the Workshop Block, to the left of the stairs that lead to the Upper Gallery.
The lift serves all floors of the Workshop Block, and will provide greater reliability, accessibility, and load carrying capacity into the Workshop Block.
The smaller, existing lift in the Workshop Block at LCC will remain open.
Works to install the new Workshop Block lift have been ongoing since summer 2023, and were due to complete by summer term 2024. We have attempted to minimise as much as possible disruption to students and staff caused by these works.
Signage to direct building users to and from the new lift is in production and will be installed after Shows 2024.
We thank students and staff for your patience while these essential and occasionally noisy works took place.

Did you know that applications are open for students to join the Halls Student Committee from September 2024?
It’s your time to shine! The graduation ceremonies are coming, and we would like to give students the opportunity to appear in our graduation films as well as have their work displayed at the Royal Festival Hall.
