This past summer the TCCHS Alumni Foundation, Inc. was incorporated as the officers and directors of the TCCHS Alumni Association chose to set up our own non-profit Foundation.
Thanks to the generosity of so many people – alumni, friends of TCCHS, businesses, the Todd County Fiscal Court, Novelis, and other contributors – the Foundation provided $36,000.00 to the TCCHS Class of 2024 during TCCHS’s annual Awards Day Program held Thursday evening, May 9, 2024. This year the Foundation chose to offer scholarships for students with some scholarships requiring a 2.75 GPA, others requiring a 3.00 GPA, and three others requiring a 3.50 GPA or above.
As most may know, our first alumni scholarships were awarded in 2014, a short eleven years ago, and this year the Foundation was able to provide 27 students with 37 Foundation scholarships. As true of past years, this year saw new scholarships added, and some other scholarships were eliminated as sponsors were not available. The Foundation’s officers, directors, and members invite anyone who wants to establish a scholarship to reach out to one of us. Our officers/directors this current school year include Anna Jo Parmley, president; Linda Stokes Fritz, vice-president; Joyce Darby, treasurer; Carolyn Wells, secretary; and Charlotte Morrow, Sue Neeble, and Jeremy Long, directors-at-large. Five other people have been faithful supporters of our work this past year – Dana Orr, Ginger Simons, Marla Gillespie, Frances Traughber, and Robert Neeble. We also invite anyone, either a graduate of TCCHS or a friend of the Foundation, to join our efforts. Memberships are $10.00 yearly with a lifetime membership of $200.00 also an option. Please remember those memberships help fund our scholarship effort!
Because our scholarship monies’ deadline was earlier this year than in years past, we were able to attach each recipient’s scholarship check made out to the university or technical school he or she will attend to his or her certificates.
As true from the beginnings of our scholarship effort, we reminded all recipients to send a “thank you” note to the sponsors of these scholarships! To make that easier, each recipient received a pre-addressed envelope for each scholarship.
