Summer Festival | 15th June 2024 | 3.00pm to 8.00pm

Please put a date in your diary to join us on Saturday 15th June for the Summer Festival.

Last year’s Spring Festival was so popular that it is back, but at a new point in the year. We have a full programme of creative endeavour – from ballet to batik, drumming to drama, gymnastics to synchronised swimming; a language cafe, art galleries and fashion shows. We will be having the official naming of the Theatre and the closing ceremony of the Marlborough College Malaysia MUN. There will be food trucks and catering provided by the marvellous Cezar’s team. The Friends of MCM will also be supporting this family event and the finale is a performance from the ‘POPs’ Community orchestra and choir. Showcases and refreshments will be available from 3pm and fireworks will be lighting up the sky as this celebration of 2024 concludes at 8pm.

SENIOR SCHOOL

Super Curricular Reading | Shell, Remove & Hundred

Mr. Jarrett has recently introduced Senior School pupils to an exciting new directory of super curricular reading tailored specifically for Shell, Remove, and Hundred pupils. This curated list offers engaging and age-appropriate reading recommendations, designed to help pupils deepen their understanding in subjects where they’re already showing genuine academic curiosity.

As the summer holiday approaches, this presents an ideal opportunity for pupils to begin expanding their super curricular repertoire. Please encourage your child to take advantage of this valuable resource.

What Parents and Educators Need to Know about School Avoidance

School avoidance is a sharply increasing phenomenon, with tangible negative effects on children’s wellbeing and education. The factors that come together to make a child consciously avoid seeing their classmates and teachers can be much more complicated than is often assumed. A careful, mindful approach from parents, carers and educators is required to help children return to an environment that may be causing them intense anxiety.

This week’s guide helps to define potential roots and ramifications and what you can do to help your child navigate these obstacles and continue their education.
