Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos has weighed in on the surprising news that Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist have filed for divorce.
The highly-anticipated spin-off is plowing ahead despite the shocking news that rocked Bachelor Nation back in April.
Joan, 61, was announced as the new lead on Tuesday ahead of the Golden Bachelorette’s first season commencing this Fall.
She unfortunately had to drop out of The Golden Bachelor after just three week’s due to a family emergency.
Speaking to CNN, she’s now weighed in on Gerry and Theresa’s disappointing announcement last month.

“I was surprised,” the school administrator admitted. “I loved watching their journey. I saw them fall in love.”
Joan maintained they were right for each other at the time but supported their decision to end the relationship after just three months of marriage.
“I believed, just like they did, that they were the perfect couple. And I applaud that they jumped into this process with both feet and they were ready to find love.

“And they knew what true love was, they both had it in their previous lives.”
Gerry was married to his wife Toni for 43 years until she sadly died from an illness in 2017.
Meanwhile, Theresa suffered a similar tragedy, having been married to husband William for 42 years until he died in 2014.
Fans were thrilled to see them find love again, so it undoubtedly came as a shock when the marriage didn’t work out.
“I applaud them for doing that,” Joan continued. “And I also applaud them that when they discovered it wasn’t perfect, that they called it quits, and it’s not the end of the world.
“And we have to let them live their journey and follow their hearts and it wasn’t right for them, so they split up.”
The Golden Bachelorette will air this Fall on ABC.
