SoftBank’s Arm Set to Release AI Chips in 2025

The artificial intelligence chip business Arm, part of the SoftBank Group, plans to begin producing artificial intelligence (AI) chips in 2025, reported Nikkei Asia. SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son is attempting to turn Arm into a massive AI powerhouse by investing 10 trillion yen ($64 billion).  U.K.-based Arm plans to establish an AI chip branch and produce a prototype by the spring of 2025. It is anticipated that mass production will begin in the autumn of that year, with contract manufacturers handling it.

According to Nikkei Asia, SoftBank may spin off and take over the AI chip business once a mass-production system is in place. SoftBank is currently in talks to secure production capacity with companies like Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp and others.

Data Centers, Robotics, and More

Robots, data centers, and power generation are among the areas that SoftBank plans to explore as part of Son’s AI revolution. To promote innovation across several sectors, he plans to bring together the most recent advancements in robotics, semiconductor, and AI technology. Having artificial intelligence chips that are capable of processing a large amount of data is the basis of this endeavor.  Son’s strong belief in AI’s potential is the reason for the audacious investment.
