As we know, like others, the events industry has been heavily affected by the health crisis linked to Covid-19. The first shutdown, it was in the back of the line at the time of the restart, thus being one of the last to restart the machine. After the 2019 edition, we had to wait until 2022 to see the Vandoeuvre exhibition center fully reopen its gates.
However, even if the period was tough for the teams, it made it possible to rethink a concept giving signs of running out of steam. The challenge ? Renew yourself without making a clean sweep of everything that has been done for decades. Meeting the expectations of visitors and exhibitors has become vital.
Election of Miss Meurthe-et-Moselle, Alternance forum… What’s new
This work was carried out by the Destination Nancy teams but also by that of Unimev – the French Union of Events Professions – co-chaired by Béatrice Cuif-Mathieu, also general director of Destination Nancy. “The Foires de France label has gained momentum. Enough to give impetus to the assembly of this Expo 2024 Fair. It will not hesitate to explore new horizons. Mini-boom for the youngest, election of Miss Meurthe-et-Moselle, Alternance forum, a revised and corrected Sports Village, a wardrobe clearance, a Vintage and retrogaming lounge and an incredible drone show are among the novelties.
“This year – Olympic -, Decathlon will provide its support and its know-how to the Sports Village which needed a framework,” underlines Béatrice Cuif-Mathieu.
A true economic player in the region, the Expo Fair will once again establish itself as an alternative to the internet. The reason is simple. Putting the components of the event into perspective, it is indeed a marketplace – which this year is recovering its animation podium – life-size and open-air – which will take over the exhibition center.
Guests for everyone
They are part of the expected moments of the Nancy Expo Fair. Guests are always popular. And all generations find their happiness there. Both weekends will welcome the official double of the pirate Jack Sparrow and therefore, by extension, of Johnny Depp.
On June 1, the elegance of Miss Lorraine 2023 will light up the place and on Monday June 3, Adeline Toniutti, vocal coach of the show The Voice, will be in the spotlight. The next day, the tireless Didier Barbelivien will stop by while waiting for Lilian, artist of The Voice 2024, on Wednesday June 5.
Finally, after last year’s Paw Patrol, it’s Mario and Sonic who will come to make the youngest dream, on Sunday June 9.
Permanent entertainment
The permanent activities will provide highlights during the nine days. The Federation of Artisan Bakers and Pastries will provide its share of competition. The best Lorraine pâté, the best traditional French baguette, the best Lorraine quiche, the best pain au chocolat and the best croissant will be in the spotlight. The Académie Gourmande des Chaircuitiers will be tasting a “Passion Caraïbe” pâté en croute on Sunday 2 and will host its chefs’ workshop on the same day.
In hall B, the University of Lorraine will unveil its “Innovation Village of the Lorraine site”. Virtual reality, 3D printing, robotics, paragliding simulator, innovations of all kinds… The interests will be intergenerational.
Finally, the mini-farm of the Écurie du Vermois should, once again, fascinate the youngest who are kept away from their screens.
Exceptional evenings
After Kyo and Partenaires particulars followed by Émile & Images in previous editions, it is Yannick Noah who will perform, in hall E, the opening concert on Saturday June 1st. The concept works and has therefore been perpetuated by Destination Nancy. A set accessible via a dedicated ticket office.
On Friday June 7, there will be a colorful show provided by the Iloa cabaret, from Dommartemont, which will host the evening before giving way to a country evening the next day. That same day, at 10:30 p.m., the show – also presented on Saturday 1er – featuring 250 drones, will light up the sky over the exhibition center.
Finally, on Wednesday June 5, the casting of The Voice and The Voice Kids will make the hearts of the day’s candidates beat faster as they pass in front of the uncompromising Bruno Berberes, the show’s casting director. It was he who discovered a certain Louane. To name just one.
The little ones pampered
For a long time, ice cream or any other sweets did the trick – with difficulty – to try to keep the children entertained. For this edition, in addition to the exhibition event on Caribbean Treasures which should attract the attention of more than one blonde or brunette head, the Pirate Park will be present with its inflatable structures, as will the McDonald’s workshops, during the two weekends and Wednesday 5. Without forgetting daycare, for both weekends. From 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., it will offer free activities for children aged 3 to 10.
Demonstrators in their neighborhood
The demonstrators have, for several years, had their own neighborhood in Hall B. A Place du Bagout which will offer the usual bestsellers such as the miraculous Bolit, the Voracious Carpet or even the Mapa Grill table barbecue, the Anylock hermetic closures, the MOP brooms … In short, products only presented at fairs or teleshopping.
In this same hall B we will note the return of a kitchen robot giant. Indeed, Vorwerk will be part of the party with, in particular, its Thermomix which will be on parade during a fair which also promises to be delicious.
