Hi

You bought the sensor, how did you identify which engine you have so you got the right part?

Can you identify the engine that has the cam sensor fault?

Does the engine still run?

Is the cam belt or chain still complete and not missing its teeth?

C3 1.2 petrol engine cam sensors
C3 1.2 petrol engine cam sensors

Without knowing exactly which engine, I guessing it's the puretech PF1 engine.

The cam position sensors are arrowed (both of them) and circled in the diagram.

On most engines you can find the cam position sensor(s) at the front of the engine, up by the cam shaft sproket - because this is where the signal is generated. So this is always a good place to start looking for it (them).

You symptoms are not for classic cam sensor faults.

There may be a problem reading the codes incorrectly or some other issue that is giving the lack of power that also affects the cam signal.

I didn't think just changing the sensor will fix it, but I am happy to be wrong, please keep us updated on how it all goes :)

So my very talented other half found the sensor, the replacement part was £35 on ebay, it took him 15 mins to swap the part and now error free! So relieved and a relatively quick fix 👍

Thank you for the update. Well done.

Does the old part show signs of cracking in plastic body?

No - just lots of oil like substance on the sensor part - might have just needed a good clean to be honest but replaced it to be sure
