The end of the 2023-24 season is upon us and with it begins the Team of the Year debate as fans argue over which 11 players are worthy of being in this year's edition. At Express Sport, we gave you - our readers - the chance to decide your TOTY. and now, the results are in. But there's no room for four players - , Gabriel Magalhaes, and . Check out the team in full below...

Goalkeeper: David Raya

You had five choices between the sticks - Andre Onana, Guglielmo Vicario, Jordan Pickford, Ederson and David Raya. And that, from last to first, is exactly the order in which you voted.

Raya, with 16 clean sheets for Arsenal with one game to go, was your chosen victor with 38 per cent of the vote. His closest competitor was Manchester City's Ederson on 26 per cent while Everton shot-stopper Pickford, who has 13 clean sheets, completed the top three with 17 per cent.

Right-back: Kyle Walker

It was a close call at right-back but Manchester City's Kyle Walker - who can become a six-time Premier League champion - won 38 per cent of the votes to beat out Arsenal's Ben White (31 per cent). Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold ended with 15 per cent.

Manchester United's Diogo Dalot (nine per cent) and Kieran Trippier of Newcastle (seven per cent) were left in the dust.

Centre-backs: Virgil van Dijk, William Saliba

At left centre-back, despite the formidable defensive record of Arsenal, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk gets in over the much-improved Gabriel Magalhaes of Arsenal - with 40 per cent of the voting to 25 per cent.

Everton's impressive 21-year-old Jarrad Branthwaite ended on 18 per cent with Tottenham's Micky Van de Ven, a newcomer to the Premier League this season, fourth (12 per cent). Newcastle's Fabian Schar came fifth.

As the right-sided centre-back, William Saliba was the landslide winner. The Arsenal centre-back was voted by 56 per cent of our respondents, with Man City's Ruben Dias closest to him on 25 per cent.

They were miles clear of Cristiano Romero (nine per cent), Ibrahima Konate (seven per cent) and Ezri Konsa (three per cent).

Left-back: Nathan Ake

The tightest battle of them all comes at left-back - where Nathan Ake beat his City team-mate Josko Gvardiol by a mere 100 votes or so. Ake clinches the position with 35 per cent to Gvardiol's 34 per cent.

Premier League debutant Destiny Udogie of Tottenham was recognised with 16 per cent, with Lucas Digne fourth (eight per cent) and Rayan Ait-Nouri fifth (seven per cent).

Defensive midfielder: Rodri

No surprises here. Widely recognised as the greatest defensive-minded midfielder in football, City's Rodri is the 71 per-cent winner in this category, smashing his closest rival Bruno Guimaraes (13 per cent).

Behind the duo came Douglas Luiz (eight per cent), Wataru Endo (five per cent) and Yves Bissouma (three per cent).

Central midfielders: Declan Rice, Kevin De Bruyne

Arsenal's Declan Rice is perhaps the signing of the season - and no wonder he picked up 59 per cent of the vote which was more than double the second-placed player in the left-sided midfield role.

Bruno Fernandes was second best on 21 per cent with Alexis Mac Allister on 13 per cent, ahead of Lucas Paqueta and Ross Barkley. But it was a little closer on the right-hand side.

The excellent Martin Odegaard collected 39 per cent of the vote but still missed out. No player in the rest of our entire TOTY earned more votes and still missed out. Kevin De Bruyne (47 per cent) was the man chosen ahead of him ahead of Bernardo Silva, Eberechi Eze and Pascal Gross.

Right wing: Cole Palmer

The man expected to collect the Young Player of the Year award, Cole Palmer is on 22 goals and 10 assists for Chelsea. He could yet add more to his tally at home to Bournemouth.

Palmer's brilliant season for the Blues saw him earn 46 per cent of votes, beating Bukayo Saka (30 per cent), Mohamed Salah (16 per cent), Jarrod Bowen (five per cent) and Julian Alvarez (three per cent).

Striker: Erling Haaland

Despite his 19 goals and 13 assists, there's no room for Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins. His 21 per cent share of the votes is well behind the soon to be back-to-back Golden Boot winner Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian has 27 goals, after hitting 36 last term, and could yet increase that amount vs West Ham on the final day. After Watkins, Newcastle's 20-goal Alexander Isak commanded 16 per cent of the votes in front of Dominic Solanke and Matheus Cunha.

Left wing: Phil Foden

The leading contender for the Player of the Year award, the 17-goal and eight-assist Phil Foden absolutely obliterated his rivals for the left-wing spot. No other player commanded as many votes as him.

His 74 per cent share of the responses left Son Heung-min (12 per cent), Anthony Gordon (seven per cent), Mohammed Kudus (five per cent) and Leon Bailey (two per cent) with absolutely no chance of getting into this team.

Express Sport readers' Team of the Year: Raya; Walker, Van Dijk, Saliba, Ake; Rodri, Rice, De Bruyne; Foden, Haaland, Palmer
