Excelsior Springs, MO–Excelsior Springs High School marked its Class of 2024 graduation with a memorable ceremony. Held at the school’s gymnasium on Friday, May 9th at 7 pm, the event brought together families, friends, and faculty to celebrate a major milestone for these students.
Principal Sara Wickham began the ceremony by delivering an inspiring welcome address, reminding the graduates, “Once a tiger, always a tiger!” – a sentiment that resonated throughout the evening.
Special recognition was given to the academic leaders of the class. Salutatorian Caroline Wenz was awarded a scholarship for her GPA of 4.266. Valedictorian Levi Turner was celebrated for his exceptional academic record and GPA of 4.267.
Following the academic honors, Paige Crowley took the stage, delivering a speech filled with humor and nostalgia. Paige reminisced about shared experiences and inside jokes. More importantly, she touched on the less-than-perfect moments they had all faced together, saying how these challenges taught valuable lessons that would aid them as they step into the future.
The commencement ceremony featured various musical performances, opening and closing with a traditional rendition of “Pomp and Circumstance” performed by the ESHS Symphonic Band under the direction of Mr. Garrett Jones. The Springs Singers, led by Mr. Tim Harlan, also took to the spotlight to perform the national anthem and “You Raise Me Up,” before the Symphonic Band returned for an instrumental piece titled “Abracadabra.” Finally, the Springs Singers returned to deliver a stirring rendition of the ESHS alma mater.
The ceremony concluded with a final message from senior Abigail Rash, sending the graduates off with a celebratory spirit. As “Pomp and Circumstance” filled the air, the graduates exuberantly tossed their caps high, marking the end of their high school journey and the beginning of exciting possibilities that lie ahead.
