Over the past several years, The Real Housewives of New Jersey mom has faced a wave of criticism and circulating rumors about her relationship with Luis “Louie” Ruelas. Even before the couple tied the knot in 2022, Teresa’s castmates expressed doubt about the romance and repeated unsavory whispers about Louie’s past.

But now that she’s approaching her second wedding anniversary, Teresa has decided to ignore the negativity and will no longer “defend” her hubby against all the hate. And, no, it’s not because she finds him indefensible; it’s because she’s letting the “facts” speak for themselves in RHONJ Season 14.

“I’m done defending this season,” Teresa said during her May 7 appearance on The Talk. “I can’t wait for everyone to see this season because I come out with facts — black and white facts that I can’t wait for everyone to see. And it’s going to be very eye-opening.”

Teresa Giudice on Louie Ruelas' criticism: "He didn't sign up for this"

Teresa and Louie entered Season 14 at odds with fellow Jersey couples Rachel and John FudaMargaret Josephs and Joe Benigno; as well as Teresa’s sister-in-law Melissa Gorga and her little brother, Joe Gorga. Teresa said Louie’s introduction to the Bravo-verse was “tough,” but he's learned to navigate the negativity that comes with life in the public eye.

“My poor husband. When I first met him, this was all new to him,” Teresa explained. “He didn’t understand reality TV but now he is, unfortunately, adjusted to it. This is his third season. I mean, I felt bad for him because he did go through a lot, and I’m glad he didn’t run away from me because he could've, just because it was tough.”

Teresa claimed her castmates went after Louie not because they thought he was a bad guy, but because they wanted to hurt her.

“He didn’t sign up for this,” she continued. “He met Teresa Giudice not thinking that a lot of my cast members were gonna attack him on my show, which they did because they were trying to get to me, and they knew they didn’t have anything on me, so instead they figured, ‘Let’s hurt the person she loves,’ and that’s what they’ve been doing.”

Teresa Giudice and Louie Ruelas' Blended Families

Later in the interview, Teresa touched on her and Louie's relationship with her ex-husband, Joe Giudice, with whom she shares four daughters. The Jersey mom spoke about spending the holidays with Joe in the Bahamas after Louie suggested a blended family get-together.

“Louie’s like, ‘Babe, why don’t we go spend New Year’s Eve with your ex. It’ll make your kids so happy,’” Teresa recalled. “I have to say, that was so beautiful because my kids were so happy that me and their dad were in the same room… I was grateful that Louie [suggested] that.”
