MEMPHIS, Tenn. — "There's no place like home" as the old saying goes and that seems particularly true for Moussa Cisse. The former Tigers center will return to Memphis for one more year in the blue and grey, he announced on social media Friday.
Cisse played for Memphis his freshman year in 2020-21. He left Memphis for two seasons at Oklahoma State before transferring a second time for one season at Ole Miss. As a Rebel, he averaged 4.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game in 17.5 minutes of action.
The center played his first game of the 2023-24 season against Memphis in December. He tallied two points, five rebounds and a block in a 80-77 win for the Rebels.
At 7'0" tall, Cisse will be a defensive presence for the Tigers once again. In his lone year in the 901, he averaged 6.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. Cisse, who is originally from Guinea, spent one year of high school at Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis. He was the ranked the No. 2 center in the nation by 247Sports Composite and a 5-star recruit before committing to Penny Hardaway.
Cisse becomes the seventh player to commit to Memphis this spring. He joins PJ Haggerty, Colby Rogers, Dain Dainja, Tyrese Hunter, Baraka Okojie and Tyreek Smith as transfer commitments. The Tigers return Nicholas Jourdain from last season's roster and are still waiting on a decision from star forward David Jones, who is in the 2024 NBA Draft process.
