With the Premier League season ending in less than two weeks, talk will soon turn to the transfer window.

There will be several incomings and outgoings in the Premier League, with all 20 clubs likely to be busy during the summer window ahead of the start of next term.

While big money transfer sagas may take centre stage during the summer, there will also be a number of Premier League players that could leave their respective clubs as free agents.

Here, we take a look at five stars who are set to be out of contract this summer.

Raphael Varane (Manchester United)

French defender Varane joined the Red Devils from Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2021 and has played an important role for the club since.

Varane looks likely to leave Manchester United this summer

He has made a total of 93 appearances for the club across all competitions, but the Frenchman has only started 18 Premier League games this season, in part due to injury. The 31-year-old’s contract is set to expire this summer, and he will likely depart Old Trafford.

Thiago (Liverpool)

Midfielder Thiago has made just one appearance so far this season, playing five minutes as a substitute against Arsenal in February. The Spaniard has struggled with two long-term injuries either side of his single appearance, and Jurgen Klopp has undoubtedly missed the experienced central midfielder. In total Thiago has played 98 times for the Reds since signing from Bayern Munich in 2020, but he is set to be out of contract this summer and doesn’t look likely to sign an extension.

Thiago Silva (Chelsea)

Veteran defender Silva, 39, announced that he will leave Chelsea this summer in an emotional video posted at the end of April. The Brazil international has played more than 150 times for the Blues since joining in 2020, and has achieved cult hero status among the club’s supporters.

Silva is set to return to former club Fluminense this summer

In 2021 he helped Chelsea to a second Champions League triumph, but he will depart this summer and join former side Fluminense in his native Brazil.

Anthony Martial (Manchester United)

Martial was regarded as one of the most promising young players in Europe when he joined the Red Devils from Monaco in 2015. He made an instant impact, scoring on his debut against Liverpool before netting twice against Southampton in his second game. After a few impressive seasons, the Frenchman has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford. He spent time on loan at Spanish side Sevilla in 2022, but the move failed to reignite his career. He will likely leave United when his contract expires this summer.

Jorginho (Arsenal)

Italian midfielder Jorginho joined the Gunners from rivals Chelsea in a surprise move last January. He played a bit-part role during the second half of last season, but has been crucial for Mikel Arteta’s side in recent months.

Jorginho has been instrumental for Arsenal in recent weeks

He recently made his 50th appearance for Arsenal across all competitions, and could yet be offered an extension to his current contract.
