Since Ted Lasso Season 3's finale aired last May, fans of the soccer-centric have been waiting for news of when Season 4 will eventually kick off. However, a new, unexpected update seemingly suggests the proverbial final whistle has been blown on the award-winning show.

Per Comicbook.com, Amazon has a pre-order listing for Ted Lasso: The Complete Series on Blu-ray and DVD for $84.99. The listing has a release date of Jul. 30, though there's no artwork yet for The Complete Series. With all three seasons of Ted Lasso being available on this soon-to-be-released boxset, it further raises questions regarding whether there will be a Season 4 at any point.

Ted Lasso Cast and Character Guide
Ted Lasso is a heartwarming show with many moments that stand out. But it's characters like Ted and Rebecca that made the show special.

There have been hints that Season 3 could be the last hoorah for Ted Lasso. Director Declan Lowney suggested last summer that the series was over "for now," admitting it felt like the show was ending as filming progressed. Lowney told The Hollywood Reporter, “Everybody knew it was the end, but it’s also the end for now. (Laughs.) It’s going to be two or three years before anything happens — if anything happens — so let’s try and tie up all these stories properly." Furthermore, the rousing Ted Lasso-like speech given by star Jason Sudeikis as Season 3 filming wrapped further hinted at the series being closer to its end.

Season 4 of Ted Lasso Could End Up Happening

However, all hope is not lost. As Lowney mentioned above, Season 4 could still happen, though it might be years before it comes to fruition. Additionally, Warner Bros. TV Group chairman Channing Dungey claimed in January that there had been conversations about a potential Ted Lasso renewal.

There Are 'Ongoing Conversations' About Ted Lasso Season 4, Says Warner Bros. TV CEO
Warner Bros. TV Group chairman Channing Dungey hints that a fourth season of acclaimed Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso is still in the cards.

The Ted Lasso character originally started in popular skits during NBC Sports' English Premier League coverage before the Apple TV+ series based on his character was co-developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt. Ted Lasso chronicles the titular American football coach who gets hired by an English second-division club, AFC Richmond, unexpectedly leading them to Premier League promotion amid doubts from critics and his team's owner. The series became an Emmy-winning hit, with Sudeikis later winning a Golden Globe for his performance in the lead role.

After the first two seasons scored a 92% and 98% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes respectively, Season 3 was more of a slow-burner hit, getting an 82% score on the review aggregator, bouncing back from a slow start. Ted Lasso Season 3 also became the most-viewed original series of 2023, despite Apple TV+ being significantly outnumbered subscriber-wise by Netflix and Prime Video, who populated the Nielsen Top 10 chart.

Fans can stream all three seasons of Ted Lasso via Apple TV+.
