19.05.2024 18:46NEW DELHI: Following Sunrisers Hyderabad’s triumph over Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League 2024, wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen shared insights into his extensive six-hitting training during practice sessions.
Explosive performances by Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen Sunrisers Hyderabad to successfully chase down a target of 215 with five deliveries to spare at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday.
During the post-match interview, Klaasen stated, ‘I practice hitting sixes off the back foot a lot. I hit one or two today that brought a smile to my face. It was a satisfying feeling where everything just clicked again. The break after the previous game definitely helped us mentally rejuvenate for the playoffs and the upcoming World Cup.’
On the match itself, Punjab Kings elected to bat first after winning the toss. Strong contributions from Prabhsimran Singh (71 off 45 balls), Rilee Rossouw (49 off 24 balls), and Atharva Taide (46 off 27 balls) propelled PBKS to a total of 214/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
T Natarajan’s bowling figures of 2/33 stood out for SRH.
In the chase, after an early dismissal of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma (66 off 28 balls), Nitish Kumar Reddy (37 off 25 balls), and Heinrich Klaasen (42 off 26 balls) played aggressive innings to guide SRH to victory with five balls to spare, reaching 215/6 in 19.1 overs.
Arshdeep Singh’s bowling performance of 2/37 was commendable for PBKS.
Abhishek Sharma was named the Player of the Match for his blistering half-century.
Currently, SRH occupies the second position in the points table with eight wins, five losses, and 17 points. On the other hand, PBKS sits at the ninth spot with five wins, nine losses, and 10 points.
