“when the pawn” is my favourite album of ALL TIME.

It's my favorite Fiona album, and is right up there among my favorites in general. Along with Garbage's debut and Version 2.0, and Poe's Haunted.

It means the absolute world to me I can delineate my mind before and after listening to that album it changed me.

I agree entirely. I wish there were outtakes or B sides because I CANNOT get enough of WTP

I'll let the crowd know where the poem is from, of course, but I'm including the When the Pawn poem in my next performance! I'm not a fighter, I'm a writer, and that poem works so well as reassurance that I can share pieces that contain lyrics that might sound a bit ... harsh... lol.

I was having the same thought last night when listening to it. It's definitely in my top five favourite albums. I wouldn't change a thing about it.

1000% agree. I deeply love and connect with all of her albums, but when the pawn is the masterpiece of masterpieces. I’ve been listening to it regularly since it came out. I remember (pre internet being the ubiquitous thing it is now) listening and writing all the lyrics down in my notebook. It was cathartic. Now I can write them all down from memory. So cool.

This album came out the year I graduated high school and moved to San Francisco by myself at age 17 and it will always remind me of possibility and the first time I hated a guy
