CRYSTAL PALACE PREVIEW: EAGLES CONTINUING TO SOAR

Crystal Palace are heading into the final day of the Premier League season as one of the very in-form teams in the division. The Eagles will hope to finish with a flourish this weekend ahead of a summer that is expected to see a lot of their key players linked with moves away. Their form, though, would suggest that if they stay they will be challenging for the European places next season.

That good form continued at Molineux last weekend as they cruised past Wolverhampton Wanderers by three goals to one with all three of their leading attackers, Eberechi Eze, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Michael Olise, getting on the scoresheet. They have now collected 16 points from their last six matches in the Premier League.

ASTON VILLA PREVIEW: VILLA ON THE LASH

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa can take the final weekend of the season with a bit of ease. After a knackering campaign in which they reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League, it was confirmed on Tuesday evening that the Villains would be back in the UEFA Champions League next season after Tottenham Hotspur were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City.

Villa did have the chance to confirm their qualification for themselves by beating Liverpool the night before Spurs’ loss but they had to settle for a rallying comeback in a thriller at Villa Park. At 3-1 down with five minutes of the 90 to go, it seemed like it would it be four successive defeats in all competitions but a late Jhon Duran brace rescued a point for Unai Emery’s men.

CRYSTAL PALACE TEAM NEWS: HUGHES OUT

Oliver Glasner has been dealt a bit of a blow in midfield as Will Hughes has joined the injury list with a knee issue that isn't expected to be too serious. Naouirou Ahamada is out suspended, too.

Aside from those two absentees, the Eagles also have long-term issues over Sam Johnstone, Rob Holding, Cheick Doucoure and Matheus Franca with Jefferson Lerma a doubt.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Clyne, Andersen, Richards; Daniel Munoz, Wharton, Riedewald, Mitchell; Olise, Eze; Mateta

UNAVAILABLE: Johnstone (Injured), Holding (Injured), Doucoure (Injured), Hughes (Injured), Ahamada (Suspended), Matheus Franca (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Jefferson Lerma (Injured)

ASTON VILLA TEAM NEWS: DEPLETED VILLAINS

Unai Emery has had yet another man join a list of serious injury issues. Italian international Nicolo Zaniolo has been confirmed as having a fractured foot.

That means he has joined Tyrone Mings, Boubacar Kamara and Jacob Ramsey as a long-term absentee with Unai Emery also confirming that Matty Cash, Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers also unavailable.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Emiliano Martinez; Konsa, Diego Carlos, Torres, Digne; Bailey, Douglas Luiz, McGinn, Diaby; Watkins, Jhon Duran

UNAVAILABLE: Mings (Injured), Cash (Injured), Kamara (Injured), Tielemans (Injured), Rogers (Injured), Zaniolo (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Alex Moreno (Injured), Emi Buendia (Injured)

CRYSTAL PALACE VS ASTON VILLA PREDICTION

The prediction for this one was very much dependant on the tension that the game would have had on it if Tottenham had managed to defeat champions-elect Manchester City in midweek. Now, though, it does seem like a fairly clear winner will emerge. Crystal Palace have an excellent group of young players and talent, whilst Villa will very much be in party mode so it may well be a fun game but Palace, especially at Selhurst Park, should come out on top.
