2020 Tokyo Olympics 110m hurdles silver medalist Grant Holloway took a jab at people criticizing him after he spoke about Noah Lyles getting preference over 400m specialists at the World Indoor Championships. At the 2024 World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Lyles was part of the silver-winning 4x400m relay team.

At the 2023 World Championships, Noah Lyles had nabbed wins in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relays to achieve the sprint treble, after only the legendary Usain Bolt. Stepping into 2024, Noah Lyles started the season with a couple of 60m wins and won the 100m dashes at the Tom Jones Memorial and the Bermuda Grand Prix, cementing his status as one of the most succesful professional sprinters.

Lyles also won the silver medal in the 60m category at the World Indoor Championships to maintain his podium streak but his unexpected entry onto the US 4x400m relay team has left the internet and other media abuzz.

Grant Holloway, the world indoor record holder for 60m hurdles, which he earned at the 2024 USA Track & Field Indoor Championships, also called out athletes getting selected by the USATF despite having not run the 400m probably since their school days. In an interview with NBC Olympics, he asserted that he was not pointing fingers but speaking the truth.

In response to Holloway's statements, NBC's Sports Director of Social Media, Travis Miller, shared some quotes from Holloway's interview via X, indirectly criticizing his words. The Olympian shared this tweet and lashed out, taking Noah Lyles' name.

"Call a spade a spade - @LylesNoah sells tickets & Grant Holloway doesn’t lol"

The quotes that Miller shared read:

"Everybody knows that my Twitter is not a safe place. I’m not pointing fingers, but we're putting people on relays who haven't run 400 since high school. And the people want to see, you know, other things. So, let’s give the people what the people want.”

Grant Holloway pitched his addition to the 4x1 Olympic relay roster alongside Noah Lyles to decision-makers

Grant Holloway was an active part of the US relay team when he was a Florida Gators athlete. All the 4x100m relay rosters he took part in during his NCAA days won gold medals.

A fan recently tagged Holloway to support his intentions of making it to Paris as a worthy 4x1 contender. He tweeted:

"Tell them people you needa be on the 4x1 in paris"

Ensuing from this, Holloway himself tweeted:

"Dear “them people” I would like to be apart of the 4x1 in Paris. Thank you. -management"

Fans saw the confident side of the 26-year-old Grant Holloway when he affirmed being prepared for anything that comes his way.
