Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly weighing up a move for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Mateta did little to suggest that he was a Champions League level player in his first three years at Selhurst Park, having arrived from Bundesliga club Mainz in January 2021.

However, since former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner replaced Roy Hodgson three months ago, Mateta has been nothing short of superb.

Indeed, the Frenchman has scored a remarkable 10 goals in 12 Premier League games under the Austrian head coach.

It is not surprising to now see him being linked with a move to a bigger club in the summer transfer window.

And, SunSport are reporting that PSG are one of the teams in the race to sign the 26-year-old.

The Ligue 1 champions are expected to undergo a rebuild this summer, after Mbappe leaves for Real Madrid, with French talent set to be high on the agenda.

Napoli want Mateta as Osimhen replacement

With Chelsea pursuing a move for Victor Osimhen, L’Equipe have reported that Mateta has been sounded out as a possible replacement option by Napoli.

Napoli are ninth in Serie A and, especially for a Frenchman, are not nearly as enticing an opportunity as PSG at this moment.

That being said, Mateta could be more assured of regular playing time with the Partenopei.

Mateta recently admitted he is dreaming of a France call-up for the 2024 European Championship in Germany.

He told L’Equipe (via GFFN): "My objective? Les Bleus! [A call-up] is so important to me. I won’t hide it, I’m thinking about the Euros, the France national team – it’s my No.1 objective, my childhood dream. I will watch the announcement."
