Kiwanis hosts annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast

The Sedalia Kiwanis Club hosted its 17th annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, May 4 at the Celebration Center. Several students were awarded scholarships during the event.

Mayor Andrew Dawson, the guest speaker, also handed out Human and Spiritual Values awards to recipients who were nominated by their churches for showing strong Christian values, outstanding leadership and participation in community service. He said it is important to recognize the young adults who step up and meet today’s challenges.

Also speaking was Matilyn Hayes, former award recipient, who was introduced by Pastor Anne Kyle, of Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church. Hayes gave an inspirational talk.

Ward Memorial to host fellowship program

Ward Memorial Baptist Church, 412 N. Osage Ave. in Sedalia, will host a Fellowship & Salvation program at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18.

The Rev. Mike Jackman, of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Slater, will be a guest speaker. All are welcome.

Church Women United to meet on Monday

Church Women United of Sedalia will meet Monday, May 20, at Community of Christ Church, 2000 S. Ingram Ave. in Sedalia.

The social time is at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting is at noon. Community of Christ Church will be the host church and will open the meeting with prayer and devotional.

Members are asked to bring items to be donated to the Back 2 School Bash school supplies. Back 2 School is a nonprofit organization started by Swanetta Marshall to help parents prepare and inspire children to have a safe and healthy school environment.

Some recommended items are pencils, pens, paper, folders, backpacks, highlighters, crayons, markers, glue, tape, calculators, notebooks, erasers, rulers, and Sharpies.

Mirror Jesus Ministries to host auction

Mirror Jesus Ministries will host a Ministry Auction on Saturday, May 18 at Antioch Fellowship, 507 W. 24th St. in Sedalia.

Doors open at 9 a.m. and food and concessions will be available. All donations are appreciated and accepted until May 17. All proceeds go to Mirror Jesus Ministries. For more information, call 660-620-6901 or search for Mirror Jesus Ministries on Facebook.
